New signing agent ques.

I just became commissioned and a member of NNA. I am waiting for my certification cours. I got a call for a signing. Im in Illinois. I panicked and, didn't take it because of no training. I have been going on sites and, have seen that there are several associations, website providers, and signing companies. I am overwhelmed. I don't want to join so many and find that they deal with the same companies. What do you suggest.

Irma, I can understand you being overwhelmed. One place to start is right here on NotaryRotary. There is a pretty good list of companies to get started with - you can use it as a check list. Since I am a member and I always log into NotaryRotary.com before I post or use any of the features I am not sure what is there if you are not a member, so please bear that in mind when reading what I have posted in reply to your inquiry. One thing that will probably be required in order to get started is to sign up with many sites. Marketing is an ongoing and necessary proposition for signing agents. I think my first assignment came as a result of being a member of notaryrotary.com.

Good luck and welcome to the group. There are a lot of insightful people who post here and who are willing to help. I have only been signing for about four months, but, the good news is that there are lots of folks who post here who have been around longer than I. You'll get good information here.

Regards, Brenda

hi Irma, there is a wonderful free listing site call sourceoftitle.com. That is great place to start. Another source is 50statenotary.com. If you would like to email me I can give you some more pointers.

I am a newbie myself, and I would like to know which sites are best for getting work. I am a member of the NNA, and have registered with Notary Rotary. My question: is it worth it to sign up with some of these companies that charge a fee?

TIA!!

When I first started this business I contacted every company I saw on all the message boards. Then I joined NSA, 123, and notary rotary.
Most of my business comes from these paid sites. Maybe I am wrong but I don't take the time to complete all the paperwork involved in signing up with every company anymore.
I am very busy and plan on renewing with all 3.

NO, not until money starts coming to your mail box.

It's worth the fee for sites like notaryrotary, 123, etc. I would never pay a fee to sign up with a signing service though. I figure that any signing service that charges a fee to get into their notary database is a greedy company and they'll probably try to screw me out of my fees in the future, and that they probably pay crap to start with anyway.
