Should there be a signature?

Last night I did a signing and there was an Assignment of Deed of Trust and Corporation Assignment of Deed of Trust. Both of these documents were completed electronically and they both require notarization. My question is: There is no signature line for these documents. If I am notarizing them, what am I notarizing if there is no signature on the documents? Am I not verifying that the persons executed the docs? They did appear...Their lender said that they do not sign them. Please help. I just want to verify that this is standard practice.

Just ignore those forms, they are not for the borrower to sign or you to notarize. This is when the lender assigns the mortgage to someone else.

Just ignore them:)

Thanks so much for your response. You've eased my mind. When there is notary language on a document, I want to complete it correctly and do my job. But no signature just didn't seem right. Thanks again.

Many a time the trick is to read the doc, and see who is supposed to be signing it, if the borrower isn't signing it, then you are not to notarize it.

There would have been a signature line on the doc, but it would have been for the lender.
