To the Newbies
It seems like there are a lot of new notaries in here lately and they seem to be posting questions that have been answered in numerous discussions before.
If you're new to this group PLEASE go back and read through the old messages. You'll find that a lot of your questions have already been answered, and you'll find a lot of other useful information that you wouldn't even think to ask. If you post the umpteenth thread about "how much should I charge", you might find yourself with no responses because people in here are sick of responding to it, yet the answers are here already if you just look for them.
And if you're new and posting questions like "do I need to keep a journal?" or "what parts of my loan signing instruction book can I skip" do us all a favor and get out of the loan signing biz. If you don't know the answer to something as basic as whether you need to keep a journal or not, just from getting your notary comission, then you are NOT going to be able to handle the learning curve that comes along with loan signings. We already have enough crappy notaries in the industry, we don't need any more.

I just wish there was a way we could do a message search. That would be a lot easier than trying to go through 100's of messages.
I will definitely look through messages before posting my questions though.
Thanks. Ü

To CA_Notary,
The way you answere my question was rude. Why not just not answer my question? Instead of being so nasty. That is not what this forum is all about.
For your information, I am a licensed Real Estate Agent looking for something else to do because of health reasons. Want to pass the real estate exam.
When I am seasoned, I certainly won't treat a newbie like you treated me.
Having a bad day?

I am hardly the only person on this board to take issue with your recent postings. The fact is, you didn't even pay enough attention during your testing to become a notary to know whether or not you need to keep a journal in your state. Then you asked what shortcuts you can take because you didn't want to have to read the entire book that teaches you how to do loan signings.
Based on how you've presented yourself so far, I'd say that you are going to fail miserably as a loan signing agent unless you take the learning process a LOT more seriously. If it's rude to point that out, fine, then I'm rude. This forum is about helping each other become better at our jobs. It is a lot more helpful for us to point this out to you now so you can change your attitude and possibly be successful as a loan signing agent, then it is for us to simply say "yes, your state requires that you keep a journal" or "read pages 63-96".
I don't come to this group to give or receive warm fuzzies. I come to read the information, learn a few things, and share my own knowledge if I can. If people are going to take my directness as rudeness, there's nothing I can do about it, nor do I really care. It's not like I start my responses with "Jane, you ignorant slut"!

Re: Jane the Ignorant Slut!
Do you by any chance have Jane's home phone number?

A licensed real estate agent ...
-- REALLY?? Exactly what corners did you cut to gain that classification and what pages did you skip in the BIG book?

How about some civility and professionalism
Guys, I'm not really interested in either reading about or participating in a catfight. I get entirely enough conflict in my life with the cop shows I watch, and if those aren't enough, I can always watch my Chihuahua Lucy chase my wife's cat Desi. And if >>that<< isn't a surfeit, I can actually tune in and listen to my wife's reaction to the aforesaid canine/feline imbroglios.
I'd suggest you folks cool your jets, sheath your claws, take a deep breath, and let's get back to the business of making us all, neophyte or troglodyte, rich rich rich by addressing prospects and problems, not personalities.
You wouldn't want me to sic my wife on you, would you? That's neither a pretty sight nor a soothing earful.

Please, CA, tell us how you >>really<< feel when you get annoyed at repetitious questions.

CA Notary: You have a very unhealthy attitude. Don't you remember what it was like when you did your first signing? Take a chill pill!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: To the Newbies-ditto Redonthehead n/m
I'm not trying to be ornery, I'm trying to be helpful. There is a LOT of useful information archived on this message board and obviously a lot of new people aren't going through the old messages to see what's already here. It could keep the board from being bogged down with redundant questions AND it gives the newbies access to a lot more information than just their initial question. Seems like a win-win situation to me. Blunt and direct is NOT the same thing as ornery, but unfortunately too many people seem to think it is.
Remember - give a man a fish (answer his question) and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish (tell him how to find the answers to his questions that are already here) and he eats for a lifetime.

I keep wondering if we could not organize the board better such as:
1) Questions on Signing companies.
2) Questions on Associations
3) Questions on equipment/supplies/setup.
3) Questions on Notarizing proceedures and documents.
4) Other
There are some broad catagories out there that could help add more focus.

Re: To the Newbies -- you left off a category
You failed to include an obvious category: Bombast from Broadbrooks.

He/She/It Suggested Broad "Categories"...
...not "Broadbooks". BTW, if you're of the inclination to consistently include me in your missives...at the very least spell my last name correctly.
