state specific question
I am a fairly new notary in New York State. If I have a state specific question on a notarization, is there someplace I can look so I don't have to bother you guys with a probably stupid question? Thanks in advance

Stupid Questions
The only stupid question is the one that you don't ask just before you do something stupid Either put the question on the board and hope that you get a good ans from a fellow Empire Stater, or check with the govt office in NY that regulates Notaries

Lisa Ask your question. Someone here may know the answer. Also - do you have the NY notary handbook?

No, I don't. I guess that's probably my first step.
Here goes with my question. I received a document from a place in California. It's only one page and it's a substitution of Trustee and deed of full reconveyance. Everything is all typed in (Names dates etc.) My question is when it gets to the affidavit part of this document, it has State of California typed in then the county of _______ then everything else looks like it should. Can I just cross off the state of California and write in New York State, or do I need to attatch a loose form? Maybe it's not a state specific question, I just thought instead of bugging you guys with this kind of stuff if there was a place for me to go to get help besides here. Thanks for your help Sylvia and Bob

Yes, you should cross of California, insert New York, and initial the change. The venue should be where the notarization takes place not where the document originates or is recorded.

Make sure that this is a document the borrowers are signing. If you like you can fax it to me at 321-234-9266 and I will look at it for you - give me a contact number or e-mail address for you when you send it.
Also, if you e-mail me [e-mail address] I will send you the NY Public notary handbook as an attached file.
