anyone had experience with this company?...they have been calling me to do a few lately. they are all Heloc or Home Equity, so they tell me that they can only pay $30-$40 max because it is less paperwork? what do you all think...and do they pay if you do them?

the amount of 'paperwork' has nothing to do with your base fee. You still must travel the same distance. If you have a huge stack of paperwork and the borrowers whip right through you don't give a discount. Therefore, if you have a small stack of paperwork and the borrower futzs around, calls lender, etc., you don't get to charge more after the fact. Call Integrated Loans in CT yourself and get set up - they're a title company and won't want to give you more than $50 but at least there's no middle man.

Just wait, take the $30 and soon they'll want to pay $25. Travel , wear and tear on the car, gas, cost of equipment, time... Maybe one should just get a job flipping burgers and making fries. It's steady and would make just about the same $$$.

Per-- posts on this board and others,

Speedy is an oxymoron.

They're just the opposite on paying notaries.

Low pay combined with slow pay is a deadly combination.

Hello,
There have been several complaints regarding Speedy Closing in NJ. They took over two months to pay me for a closing in December. For others it seems that it took much longer than that to get paid. Once we agreed on a rate, the owner at Speedy tried to talk me down by $5 and I said no. I knew if I said yes, he would try to talk me down every time. Why bother when there are plenty of signing companies and title companies who are more cooperative and respect the role of the notary?

I would recommend that you decide what you are willing to work for and stick to it. You may want to consider a $50.00 minimum for signing companies if you are just starting out. Once you get more experienced, you can make the adjustment in your minimum. Remember, the notary is a very important part of the closing process. Nine times out of ten, they will agree to your fee.

On another message board, someone stated that they were aka Door To Door...who is on my 'beware list' due to other multiple postings by notaries. I personally have never worked for either. Just fyi.
