I normally charge $25 per set. So, for edocs that would be $25 for the lender's set PLUS $25 for the borrowers set, making a TOTAL of $50. This is in ADDITION to any other fees (signing fee, travel charge, etc.)

Remember, that when printing and copying, there is much more involved than just the cost of the paper. You have your operating costs, maintenance costs, supply costs, and your time to download and print. And don't forget to add in your email box costs to have a "large" mailbox to be able to receive PDF documents.

A lot of businesses do not make it simply because they don't consider the actual cost of doing business and adding to that, the expected or needed profit margin. I suggest that no one can be profitable doing edocs for $10 or $15 which is all a lot of companies are willing to pay. Why? Because it is cheaper for them to have you do it than to pay someone to do it, courier fees, supplies cost, etc. etc. etc.

Sorry, 'bout the rant. I get a bit carried away sometimes as this is my BUSINESS and my livelihood.

eDocs' have gone up to $50 for two sets for TexNotary. And, like someone else posted, I require two hours now prior to the time I have to leave to go to the signing.

Like Donna, who states she is relatively new to the business, so am I. However, it does not take a serious signing agent long to figure out that you have to be astute on how to charge fairly and competitively. However, the following must be considered (#1) We are running a business and not a service of mere good will. (#2) some companies will send documents in pieces and then after you have downloaded and printed out two copies, put into order and have them ready to go, they have changes and then you have to go back and pull the wrong documents, replace them and make sure you have done so accurately in both sets. (#3) You can receive them all in a *pdf, or two or three perhaps, 75 pages, then you find out after hitting print and come back to the printer to pick them up, that, gosh darn it, the sender did not have a scanner which was set properly for legal size paper so most of them are cut off short

Hello Brenda
I've got a better one. everything you state happens in #2 is so true.
But have you ever had them send them to you in Landscape format??
I would almost bet the company your refering to is MIS.

Lawrence: Oh no! Not another one! I think yours is a different company than the two I refer to. Landscape is one I have not run into.

For Stephanie, if you were replying to me - I was not clear. I, like you, have learned to run my eDocs on legal sheets. What I meant was that they had only scanned the first 11 inches and had left off the other 3 inches. I had hit print only to find documents which were incomplete by about 3 inches when I returned to my printer.

"Never mind....", Stephanie

Stephanie, sorry. In the words of the late great comedian, Gilda Radner, "Never mind...."
I missed the one you were answering. Brenda
