Multiple Requests for Acknowledgement Form

On May 14, I had a signing (edocs) which I had to attach a loose ack form to the Deed of Trust . The company called me a few days later and stated that they somehow "lost" the loose ack. So I sent them another one (with all the document information filled in such as doc name, doc date, signers, etc. so that it could not be used for any other form or borrower). I faxed it and UPS'ed it at no additional charge. I just received another call from the company stating that the county recorder's office is stating that the stamp is illegible and, therefore, the deed is unrecordable. When the ack left my desk -- it was perfectly legible. In addition, I had faxed them a copy of it and they did not call to say that they could not read it. Therefore, I can only conclude that somehow they messed up the ack form (or lost it altogether again). They want me to send another one which I will do because I do not want the borrower's loan to be delayed.

However, after this long-winded explanation, my question is this: Would you charge them for having to send out the ack a second time and, if yes, how much? Thanks everyone.

We're all in this together -- signing agents, signing companies, title companies, lenders, borrowers, lawyers, the borrower's ex-wife...The signing company, absent conduct to the contrary, is not an enemy; they are colleagues. Bill them for your expenses, even the first class stamps, if you wish. But I wouldn't charge them any additional fee. You may need some CYA from them in the future.
