Web-Based Fax Service

I am just starting out and was wondering your thoughts on web-based faxed services versus a fax machine. What are your thoughts and suggestions?

Web based fax services are ok for incoming faxes. I use K7 (www.k7.com) for incoming. As you get started you will find that a lot of the folks you sign up with require that you complete forms and fax them back. After a while it becomes kind of expensive to run to the local fax office and pay $.0X cents per page. I just bought a Brother Intellifax 2800 that I use for outgoing faxes. Got this because I already have a laser printer (which you will also need). The 2800 was $169 at Staples and it doubles as a copier. If you don't have a laser printer you may want to look at one of the all-in-one machines. If you go this route I would strongly recommend you buy HP so you are using native PCL on your printer. I'm relative new (7 months) and have sort of learned what I need by trial and error.

Hi Tom....Thanks so much for the input. I do already have a laser printer, but I will look into a printer that scans, copies and prints. I was hestitant to spend to much just starting out.

I currently have an Epson Stylus 740, but it only prints. I really need something that faxes, scans and copies.

Take a look at the HP 3300 or 3330, I am not sure what the model is. It will fit the needs of PCL 6 Emulation that is needed for some programs that print from propiatory web sites.

Donna
I use Maxemail Plus (www.maxemail.com), costs $69 a year (if you pay yearly) it comes with voice mail. You can select how you want to receive your faxes, PDF or TIFF image. I have been using it for close to 2 years now, and I love it. I only use it for incoming faxes, for outgoing faxes I have a stand alone inexpensive fax machine.
