Bank docs
I encounted a possible job, Mr. jones ( well call him) said he was going to refi and take some money out of his house, so I mentioned I was a notary and heres my card if he would like me to help him out with his signing. His mortage is at Wells fargo and they gave him a choice to come to his branch to sign or get the docs. and have them notarized. my question who pays me ? Mr Jones or does it go into the loan and get payed thru the bank on disbursment?? Thanks Della

Well, I think if he gets the docs and has you notarize them outside of the bank then he'll have to pay you directly. However, if he choses to do it in the bank then I believe the bank has an in house notary that will do it for him.

I've done signings for borrowers where the docs were sent to them. I quoted a fee to the borrowers and they paid me at the signing.

Della,
I had a similar but different situation. I received a call from a woman at a title company. It seems that some friends of mine (a couple) were refinancing and requested that I handle the signing. It was not a matter of doing it in their office (they are in Ohio) or the other option of the docs being sent to the borrowers. The docs were sent to me. I set a price with the woman from the title company; my fees were set forth in the HUD 1 (I guess it is called); and I was paid within a week of the signing (by the title company).
