Noarize Single Affids. etc.

I had my first call to go to a Doctors Office and to notarize an Affidavit. This was pretty easy for $50.00. Does anyone know any Companies that I can sign up with, that does this type business exclusively. I am from Pittsburgh, PA . Thanks

Not sure what the fee rules are in PA, but wondered how you charged $50 for a single document. In OH, I'd be limited to $2 for the notarization, and would add a travel fee of maybe $25 within a reasonable distance. Was this signing quite far from you?

Hi,

I recently notarized an affidavit of parentage for a mother (thought father would sign too but he was recalcitrant even though paternity has been established). Charged $10 bucks for the single notarization (the limit in MI) plus $20 bucks for travel, as it was some distance away. Thought that was reasonable. Had told her I would charge $30 bucks in total even if his signature had been notarized. This was not through some company but out of the blue, from some site that I had registered on.

By the time you print out the Doc, make calls, goto location in heavy traffic are (Downtown), pay for parking, get back to office, fax back and send Doc by Fedex, you have 2 + hours into 1 Affidavit Notarization.

People that are in their own business have to realize that $20.00-$25.00 a hour for Professional services is not alot of money these days, when you consider gasoline costs,"WEAR & TEAR" ON YOUR VEHICLE, income taxes and other taxes, etc off of that total.

Business people that don't charge enough for "PROFESSIONAL" Services will never succeed in this business or any other business.

I agree with Roger and Ted. Notarizing one Affidavit is quite a bit different than a complete loan package and there are state limits as to what you can charge per notarization or document -- that is why someone could never plan on getting rich by simply being a notary. Colorado just upped it from $2.00 to $5.00. Even after adding reasonable travel costs, I know that I would never pay someone $50 to notarize one Affidavit.

A true "professional" is not going to be stupid enough to use the cost of printing a couple of pages plus "wear and tear" from 20 or 30 miles of driving (if even that much) as an excuse for price gouging. A true professional is also going to abide by the notary laws of his or her state regarding fees.

Yes, we have expenses. But please. Most single affadavit notarizations are not going to take anywhere near 2 hours.

Oh, contrare, my CA friend. Unless the "signing" is in my local neighborhood, they'll take at about two hours, including driving time.

Just this past Saturday, I had a simple two document notarization. It was a "done deal", just needed to get the wet ink on the dry paper.

Drive to VA facility - 40 minutes
Wait for patient to complete OT - 40 minutes (expected to have to wait a while)
Signing of documents - 5 minutes
Drive home - 40 minutes

Total amount of TIME spent: 130 minutes (just over 2 hours).

Notarization fee: $20.00
Travel charge: $35.00
Wait charge: $20.00 ($30/hr x 40 min)
Courier Fee (including overnight shipping) $20.00

Total fee for standard notarizations (2 documents) = $95.00
