Obviously someone needs an immigration document notarized. I don't understand what you need from us. I often get e-mails from the general public wanting me to notarize a document.

Maria Don't worry about not seeing an immigration document before - or any other document you are asked to notarize
The document should have a notary certificate on it, just make sure the certificate meets your state's notary laws, if not attach a loose certificate. Make sure there are no blanks on the document, the signer must have all the info completely filled out. If it is a jurat make sure you put him under oath. If an acknowledgment, make sure he acknowledges he is signing of his own free will etc. Then complete the certificate and seal it.

I don't have any suggestions re: immigration doc. needing to be notarized, but NNA does have a new immigration section...maybe they would have more information.

Hold it; I'm getting a thought...hold it...hold it...I've got it! I bet Roger has an immigration document he needs notarized. Don't hold me to that, but I bet that's what's going on. Now, what would I do if I was a notary public. Oh, my: What to do, what to do. I know -- I'll notarize it!!! That's what I'm gonna do, just notarize that darned thing.
Geez, Maria, that was hard. Take it a little earier on us the next time, okay?

My previous post on this topic got very close to going over the line from teasing into ridicule. I shouldn't do that to someone who's new to the business. Sorry, Maria_NJ, I was just pulling your leg, but when I went back and read it, I realized I may have yanked too hard. Mea culpa.

Faster than speeding bullsh...well, you know. Leaps tall beanhills with a single bound. Strong enough to stop an expressive tranny.
It's Sughperhugh!
My wife hasn't seen me this frisky since I discovered the wet t-shirt. It was 42 degrees outside, and I was wearing it.

Legit question
You did your mea culpa before I could suggest that you do so. Relax tonight by watching the debate with your fellow Texan. I undetrstand that he will lose the scowl and return to his timetested smirk. There will, of course, still be the long pauses when he forgets his three of four tag lines. "mixed message" flip-flop" etc There may be a distinction with immigration docs from "vanilla" docs Illinois , for instance gives the notary certain latitude in assisting filling out the form and pemits up to a $75 notary fee as opposed to the nornal $1 notary fee. I gotta go to bed

In CA you must make sure you don't assist the client in completing the forms and you may not charge more than $10 for each set of forms - unless you're an attorney offering professional services...
