National NOtary Association

I've noticed some online job openings for signing agents with National Notary Assoc. Does anyone know anything about this company? Is it legit?

I'm a member of National Notary Assoc. They have been very helpful to me. They will
give you all the tools you need to become a signing agent. They have a hotline just for
the signing agent for any question you may have. My first call was from the website that
they provide for there member. They have very nice supplie that you may purchase at a
discount price. Check out there website at www.nationalnotary.org
Good Luck

Re: National ...NO...tary Association

Make sure you check ANY advice they give against your STATE issued handbook. The NNA is notorious for giving out wrong information from their hotlines, as well as their publications.

Before you involve yourself with the NNA -- in fact, before you do anything else as a signing agent -- go back and read ALL the previous posts on this board, and the way to the beginning. You can do that just by clicking on the "First" button. It is the most instructive and valuable thing you can do.

You will find that a large majority of veteran signers on this board think that the NNA is not only worthless, but is actually a detriment to the profession.

Suggest following Hugh's advice, as well as that from Sylvia in the "Newbie" thread just before this one, to give yourself a broad overview and understand there is much more to being a signing agent than meets the eye, and is not the easy money NNA would have you believe. Their ads are intended to make you just another dues-paying member.

NNA does not have "openings" or employ signing agents. You will have to find your own work
through continuous marketing.

Hey Hugh why do you feel that way about the NNA. I don't get it. Should I be worried as I took their basic notary signing agent course online. I was going to do the cetified signing agent classes and exam through them too!! Give me the scoop!!

Read the posts of this forum all the way to the beginning. You will find the answer many times over.

I second this. You will get TONS of useful information about all sorts of stuff if you take a few hours and just read old posts on this board.

I know there are many people on this board who aren't fans of the NNA. I don't disparage anyone their opinion. I can only speak of my experience, which has been favorable.

I've been a notary for four years, and have had no problem getting advice -- correct advice. I find their publications informative and I like the discounts I get for their supplies.

I made my decision to join the NNA dispite hearing negative things. I will continue to be a member, once again because my experience has been fine.

So, RFox, I would say make your own decision. This board has great information and the advice you will get from the more "seasoned" notaries is more than invaluable. PAW, Sylvia, HisHughess...all very knowledgeable. Consider my opinion just as that, an opinion, and the others as the same too.

Monica J. counseled:

Advice, hell, Monica. We offer received wisdom, voices from on High, virtually Holy Writ.

What a trio that is: The Father, the Daughter, and 'Holy S---! What's he doing doing out of jail already?'

It is definitely worth the money, on several occasions I have emailed them a question and they have responded with really important info in less than 24 hours. Their magazine and emails are also valuable. I believe that I get at least 1/2 of my calls from them. I'm starting to track that info now. Jan
