Now I have become the newest "nebie' whatever the heck that is. I may be certified in some areas but, I never won a spelling B. : )

Exactly.

"Nebies we like. Jeebies not so much"

(Even if it seems like it is overstating the obvious, a notary should know it.

Chant that a few times during a signing, and you will be out of there in a matter of minutes...)

Forgive me, I have worked as a notary for over three years. Please tell me what a Jeebie is? I have never heard that term.

***Forgive me, I have worked as a notary for over three years. Please tell me what a Jeebie is? I have never heard that term. ***

A Jeebie, from the Sankrit “jber’ith”, meaning pain the southern anatomy, is a notary public, specifically a notary public signing agent, whose journal is always up to date and correct in every excruciating detail; who has never and will never notarize an affidavit with a blank (he even has trouble accepting the spaces between words); who scrupulously reads – and follows -- the ridiculous instructions sent by title/signing companies; who is always punctual; who dresses in eminently correct business attire for every closing; who is painstakingly courteous to borrowers who are jerks; who never accepts any food or drink while closing; who never takes cell phone calls during a signing; and who has a bladder the size of the Hindenburg. None of this renders him an actual Jeebie. He becomes a Jeebie when he develops a slight but pronounced elevation of the left eyebrow that invariably follows a comment by a not-so meticulous signing agent (see Heebie, infra) indicating less than total dedication to the minutiae of notarying. Jeebies are useful, especially in forums such as this, but you never want to ask one out for drinks.
