Survived in FL!
I am grateful to be back online finally after 4 days of no electric at my home! We had some damage down here near Ft. Lauderdale but mainly downed trees, hence the power outages everywhere. I have already been called for a closing for Thursday, so things are coming back to normal. Would love to hear how other Floridians are doing? BK-FL

I survived the storm. Alot of wind and rain. Had 2 families with me. NOW, we have to watch out for Ivan. Must stronger than Frances. Let's hope it goes somewhere else. I don't know how much more pounding Florida can take. Thanks for thinking of us!

Obviously, the Final Election Judge in that Great Polling Place in the Sky is simply letting Florida know that He hasn't forgotten the 2000 election, and that this time around you better not hang any chads or run in a secretary of state who is also the campaign manager for one of the candidates. Florida better listen, too, because we all know what party He founded.

I had two trees fall on my house and I just got telephone service today. They did not restore my cable/internet as of yet. Thank God no one was hurt. I could not sleep Sunday night and was awake when the second one fell. When the first one fell, we had gone to get some coffee and the tree fell where my car was parked. I was able to work out of my car and I have almost lived out of my car. I still had my wireless laptop/cell phone and my power inverter and my printer in my car. So I was good to go. I was extremely busy as most people could not print edocs with no cable. In between signings I did property damage inspections from the hurricane.

Margaret, Thank you for checking in and letting us know that you are safe and sound.
Lady, it sounds like you are always prepared! I have to admit, though I do not welcome disasters or floods for anyone-anywhere, I do think about the extra inspection income when these things happen. I am always working those income "angles."

***Lady, it sounds like you are always prepared!***
I don't know that she was all that prepared, Brenda. She didn't say a word about having a Port-a-Potty in the car. No refrigerator either. And no one can count themselves truly prepared without a coffee grinder.

We made it through Charley unscathed, and managed to escape the grips of Frances with very little damage. Few missing shingles, blown down fence, and lots of tree debris. (Oak trees are very messy!) Our biggest problem has been flooding. We have so much water and no where to pump it to. Thankfully, it didn't enter the house, but was 4 inches deep in the garage. And no power from Saturday until today (Thursday). But we survived.
Update on Sylvia/FL - They evacuated and returned to their home. It is still standing and habitable, though they lost a lot of vinyl siding, roof shingles, their fence and shed. They too have no power and were told (by automated message) that power would be restored by Saturday, the EIGHTEENTH!! Sylvia, Bruce (hubby) and their three dogs will probably come to my place for a while. Unless "Ivan the Terrible" decides something else. (Hope he stays away.)
How about the other Floridians. Please let us know you're okay.

Glad to hear Floridians are holding their own. Frances will not be forgotten by me. Without power for only 4 days, unlike my neighbors who are still without power today the 10th, but what amazed me was how busy I was with loan signings in Palm Beach county! I have been working so much that it did not sink in until today that Ivan is way too close. It seems this one is going west up the gulf side. I was wishing it would have gone out the Atlantic side, away from the coast that is, and left Florida alone. 3 hurricanes in such a short period of time makes is very hard to prepare. Our stores just got stocked up today. Plenty of supplies available today, even C and D batteries!!!
