Voided check

Quick question. When you have to collect a voided check from the borrower how do you attach it to the doc. Is there specific rule? Do you tape it, paper clip it or what? I used a paperclip for this first signing because I wasn't to sure.

Whenever an item such as a check is received from the borrower, I STAPLE it to whatever document it needs to be with. If it is a check for funds due, I STAPLE it to the HUD (and also make a letter size copy of the check stapled to the HUD so they can't tell me they didn't get the check). If it's a voided check for wire instructions or autopay, I STAPLE the check to the instructions that state to attach a voided check.

By the way, in case I wasn't clear, I staple the check. Smiley

Have you ever considered riveting the check? Really, though, I understand that arc welding it is the way to go.

I tried that once. Didn't work. So I tried acetylene. Again, it didn't work. I just couldn't get the knack of it, I guess. Kept getting kicked in the ash.

Paul,

You may want to consider using staples when attaching the check.

Staple!!!

If the title officers desk looks anything like mine at month end (and I'm sure a lot do) I am not going to paperclip a check to anything. If it gets lost, the bottom of the food chain always gets blamed.....and that's us! I always staple.

Re: Staple!...Question?

Staples are used in describing "Groceries.." Staples are used in "Surgery". Even named a Department Store "Staples". Whatever happened to the Safety Pin?

Re: Staple!...Question?

I've never stapled anything. Most of my loan packages explicitly state "Do Not Staple" anything.

I heard they are doing the navel ring circuit these days.
