Borrower name not consistent

Heloc signing and Mr. is qualified for loan and Mrs. is staying on DOT and needed to only sign a few docs. The title papers were pulled with her married name of Smith all loan docs had the name of Doe. The Grand Deed and DOT were in Smith and the Signature Affidavit was with DOE.

I had her sign them exactly how they appeared on the docs. I was able to ID her both with Smith and Doe. It wasn't the usual name type-o and of course no one around at 8:30 tonight to ask.

What would you have done?

Thank you, Lori

I had that happen once but thank goodness the lady used her maiden name on her driver's license so both of the names imprinted on the docs were supported by her driver's license. Thank goodness.

This is a case for a "formerly known as" affidavit, and possibly having her sign "Jane Smith FKA Jane Doe".

What did the signing service say when you finally talked to them?
