Business License...uggh!

I have gone back and read through previous posts regarding a business license in California. I have been told yes (and have read it too), as well as no I don't need one since I am licensed with the state, filed a bond and took an oath with the county.
Currently I just work under my name... no fancy slogan or catchy title and I have worked only with title companies thus far. As long as I file with each of them at the end of the year and paid those taxes I thought I was safe.
Does anyone know for sure?
Thanks!!

Speech recognition software?

What brand and release do you have, and do you find it valuable / a time saver?

TIA!

Re: Speech recognition software?

I use the Dragon Naturally Speaking Version 7

Because of my rheumatoid arthritis I find it invaluable.

Re: Speech recognition software?

I use Dragon Naturaly Speaking v. 7.

A time saver? Not particularly, though after you use it for a few years many people claim 110% in some things and 90% in others, so they say it washes out.

I used to be a programmer til I got a repetitive stress injury. It is a way to offload some usage of my hands and still do things I like, like browse the internet and play some games.

I used to demo it...

When I was a software marketing rep I used to demo Dragon Naturally Speaking. It was in the mid 90's. It was fun to demo. I'd stand just at the entrance of CompUSA with my headset/microphone just talking away while a big screen typed out every word I was saying. It was fun to watch people's reaction when they realized what I was doing. It's good software and I'm sure has improved tremendously in 10 years!

Yes, you need one

Yes, a business license is required in California.

For sure.

If a California notary posts that she does not have one, then that is her risk to take.

Penalties and fees for not having a license vary by city and county. Phone calls to business license offices in your county and city will tell you what they are.

Don't forget that government offices often have caller ID.

And all toll-free numbers have caller ID.
