Has anyone thought of a price increase

With the cost of fuel and auto insurance and just the cost of doing business I am considering a $5.00-$10.00 price increase in rates.

Price rates have remained the same for the last year or so.

Has anyone else considered this?

I have thought about it, but I doubt it would do any good. 90% of the SS's are not the ones out here doing the driving, so why should they care if gas is at an all time high. jmo

I tried to raise my fee with one particular company and almost lost them. It really depends on supply and demand. I don't want to give my business away, so I've decided to quote a higher fee to any new companies. Once you start working for a spefic base fee, it's hard to raise it so start out higher...imo

I was thinking about this myself after reading an article in the local newspaper that many business that depend on driving as their "bread and butter" such as taxi services, etc, they have had to pass on the cost of high gas prices to their customers. One limo service said that they have to start charging $1.00 more per mile especially with prom season coming up.

My pizza delivery man informed me last night that he will have to increas the delivery charge from 7.50 to 8.50. So by god if the pizza guy can raise his fees so can we.

price increase

Or do we not think of ourselves as a business? Fed-Ex does it. UPS does it. Truckers do it. It's a cost factor that MUST BE considered...unless you want to donate your profit to a bank! Personally, banks are not one of my favorite charities.

Re: price increase/I did it

I increased my fees anywhere from $10-$25 in January of this year. My best months in this business have been February and March, so if you have repeat business, these companies are happy with your work and don't mind the increase. It costs $50 to fill my car now, and we all know the price of gasoline will be over $3 within the next couple of months. I can justify this increase and your regular customers understand it too.

Re: price increase

In actuality, I've seen ss/tc fees DECREASE in the past year. I doubt that any ss or tc will accept any price increase, but if I were to attempt it, I think I would go with a $5 or $10 fuel surcharge and list it as such on my invoice. Hopefully that would make sense to the ss/tc.

Re: price increase

I hope SS are not reading this, but if you have a average distance lets say 30 miles round trip.
My vehicle giving me 15mpg thats only 2 [e-mail address]=5.18

If I pay 3/gallon thats only six dollars. So price difference will be only 82 cents!

Anyways I been putting ten dollars above my normal fee and Im getting it everytime. So this
gas prices should make a good pretext to increase our already low fees.

When you say "putting ten dollars above my normal fee"...is that what you quote or add to your invoice?

Re: Joseph_CA

No, When I quote them I increase it by 10.00. If I do it after I already gave them my price, they wont use me again I think.
