How to become competitive?

By being cheap? Eeaaaak! Wrong Answer.
Companies do not call you back because you charge less. This is not the criteria for repeat business. PLEASE DO NOT FALL FOR THIS TACTIC!!!

Companies call you back because
* you follow instructions,
* you arrive at your appointments on time,
* you don't screw up
* you have the required knowledge
* you are professional

Being cheap doesn't mean you'll get more jobs from other companies either. There are only a few companies that pay $40. Why lower your standards and reputation for the benefit of a FEW companies?

Schedulers do not remember you because you're cheap. They'll remember you because you did a great job, period.

You got it!!!!

I had one company tell me they would rather pay me the extra to go to one area than look for someone else there as they know I do a good job.

They remember professionalism.

(And don't think that companies don't talk to the borrowers after as I have had a few that have passed on compliments from the borrowers)

Re: $40? No Way, Even Newbie's

I tell you, even after all I've heard here, I really still do not believe anyone charges $40-$45 for a signing. I have done $50, in my neighborhood, with overnighted docs. And even then, I was cringing because I still had to spend my time (PS, I only do this with one company, who until now has been a steady customer but that could change).

The only way I believe anyone would actually fall for charging that amount or even less, would be (imo) if either they were not "trained" by the NNA (who pushes you to take higher rates), or this message board. I would think, anyone who didn't know rates may be because they actually got their start in a law office or bank, instead of within the industry.

I was referred to this site and I am NOT from the industry. So most people, I would think, know or learn quickly what to charge.....specially (possibly) from areas other than California.
