I have to ask!

In the thread below to Harry asking about limiting this forum to members only, some have posted that they are not members.
My question is WHY????
Basic membership is FREE, and companies do check out the listings on here as several signing agents can attest to.
You are enjoying the message board, you may even have bought supplies.
So WHY NOT JOIN????? All it takes is registering. It doesn't cost unless you want the premier membership.

You're probably going to laugh out loud at this one, but I didn't know it was free? Never checked, I've only been exposed to the board for a couple few months now and hadn't checked yet because I assumed. Yeah yeah, I know...'when you assume it makes an..." Now I know. I learn a new thing every day thanks to blessings like you, Sylvia ; ).

Ernest darlin', I'm a 'traveling' notary, not a 'crazy' notary...or at least I'm sane about 87% of them time. Connecticut is just a wee bit out there for me. ; ).

Sylvia...In my haste I wrote paying members. I should have said members period. I started out with a basic membership but found premiere to be beneficial to my business. I still say get rid of the anon feature

Agree, and further...

Aside from the many benefits of Premier Membership for only $40, I, as a semi-regular poster , feel an obligatiion to "Pay my way"
I don't think that Harry does this only for the pleasure of bringing joy and happyness to the empty lives of lonlely NSAs.
I would also suggest that membership be required to post. I am not a computer wienie, but there must be a way to preserve annonimity for those who so desire. ( And no, Stephanie/Ca, this not not directed at you, I have never known you to be among the "kindergarten crew")
Requiring a log in would identify posters to the administrator, so that such action as is necessary, can be taken as to offensive posts.
I, personnally will not respond to an annonymous post, but I can see a basis for so posting, in some circumstances.

I'm with Bob-Chicao (and others)

Many Forums (that's "Fora" to HisHughness [bowing in his direction]) require posters to register first. This isn't a democracy, but if it were I'd vote for anyone being able to view the Forum, with membership being required to post.

Harry doesn't have the time to babysit. We can help keep the Forum civil by not being enablers. Don't keep flame wars going by continuing to respond to something that offends you; say you're unhappy once and then move on. If you don't like the same old newbie questions, don't respond to them; someone else will always suggest that they use the "Search" button.

Re: Agree, and further...

I'm afraid to say this "I'm a newbie"
There!... I said it... That's not too bad.

Here's the thing, I've been reading the message board and frankly I can see why some people are afraid to identify themselves. There are some folks posting that seem to take pleasure in belittling anyone and everyone they can. Some of them don't bother being Anon, it really doesn't matter to them.

Even with people signing up as free members, if they were to get booted from the message board, they could always create another account and post away. The best thing to do is not be so thin-skinned and don't buy into the negative comments.

No... In my other life I was not Miss Universe, with a cardboard smile, fake wave, singing Michael Row the Boat Ashore, and lobbying for peace on earth, good will to men.

Can I simply use a MasterCard or Visa?

To become a premier member, send $40 cash -- checks or money orders not accepted -- to Hugh Nations, 7487 Chevy Chase Drive, No. 103, Austin, TX 78752. In return, we will send you 25 words or less.

Re: Not going to happen

Bob - of course Hugh cannot say anything in 25 words or less! He is an attorney.

You do know why all those legal documents are so wordy? It is because in the old days the lawyers used to get paid by the word, so the more words they used the more they got paid.
