I'm back
I have been off this board for a while. In returning, I’d like to make a few points.
1. As Brenda correctly surmised, I was Mass notary. Just my perverse streak manifesting itself. Sorry if it put a kink in anybody’s bowels.
2. Erna, I have no idea what got you started on your paranoid kick. Nobody in that series of posts complained about your grammar, least of all me. As someone who has spent his entire adult life trying to learn just one language other than his native tongue, I have immense admiration for anyone who speaks two or more languages. On the other hand, I have quite limited admiration for anyone who spent 12 years in public school studying his native language, uses it every day of his life, and still can neither speak it or write it correctly.
3. You’re apparently a nice lady who deserves plaudits for your linguistic ability, Erna, but you post too damned much. Of the first two screens of NotRot posts when I signed on, 36 per cent of the messages were from you. I don’t think anybody on this forum, myself included, has that much to say that’s of value.
4. I stopped signing into this forum because it no longer served either my desires or my needs. I’ve had several careers, ranging from lawyer to magazine publisher, and now signing agent. I don’t relate well on a professional forum to participants who ask such naïve questions as “Do I need to file an income tax return for my income as a signing agent?” I realize that there is nothing wrong with that question, but I have spent my time as a pedagogue in both college and public schools, and I have no interest in proctoring 18-year-olds still green behind the ears (as a friend of mine once noted in a delightfully mixed metaphor). When the volume of such inquiries became deafening, I quit checking in. I hope they have diminished, and I can continue to benefit from the experience and expertise of people who contribute so much here: Sylvia, Ernest, Paul, Jon, Ted, and others whom I am leaving out but who equally deserve commendation.
5. Korey Humphreys accelerated my departure. I am hardpressed to envision any circumstance in which I would voluntarily spend more than two minutes in his company. I suspect that even if he remained in total silence, his demeanor alone would be sufficient to telegraph what a completely clueless pissant he is. Even without the sock puppet alter egos he was insufferable. It doesn’t take a mature alpha male confident of his mid-life stature to recognize that wherever that fellow was at the moment, he had not left a void where he wasn’t. Anyone who paid attention to what he had to say probably needs to spend a little time soul-searching to see why they would be attuned to such a loser. Erna, that includes you.
I’m back, but not necessarily here to stay.

Your erudition and wit have been sorely missed!
And thank you for mentioning my name in such august company! (Tugging forelock) I'm not worthy! I'm not worthy!
Lurk, Hugh, and ignore what you can. It's difficult!

Mr. Hugh's:
I'm glad you feel so into yourself and your "sock puppet" friends here. This is not the place to be flaunting your old-aged expertise!
Just about every oldie today mentioned something about Korey Humphreys. Sadly, but true, Mr. Humphreys hasn't even made an appearance today. Why would you all keep mentioning him?
As far as your comment about Erna, I say, "let her speak". Being an attorney and all you should know the difference between private and public forums. But who knows, maybe in your era the right to speak didn't primarily exist.
You as the wannabe alpha male on this board is done and over with. This board is public. Your comments, as well as your "sock puppets", needs to stop. If you want the professional notary forum too come back, then we must start with your mouth, and those of your puppets.
I am remaining anonymous because I am an oldie and don't want to create a bashing thread against me. I've been using this board for about two years now and it's always the same few notaries who flaunt their garbage. It's time to stop and deploy the professionalism once again.

Erna, Please be careful when you consider who might or might not have your interests at heart. There is nothing in this thread from Hugh that is derogatory or mean to you. I think you should realize that a certain person, one who has many aliases, is playing you like a toy in his silly game. Take care.

Erna, You were the toy for only one person, not for any of the regulars or "oldbies" on this board. It is a shame that certain people have no respect for others and would choose to impede the intentions of this forum. Stay with it, I feel confident that things will change for the better.

I am usualy a quiet person. You say that you have not seen any complaints about my grammer well you should not have missed it as it was all posted in capitals. Then continued by popping up in normal conversations, then loged on this afternoon only to find my name was beiing dragged into the inuendoes about Korey, hens my posts to follow. If you think i have too many posts, maby yours are too lenghty. But I am too polite to make such comments. And if the only people you think are worth while in here are Silvia Ernest Paul and so on, you should only read their posts and ignore the rest of us. I have never spoken to you and I am too old to be repramanded.

Erna declares:
***I have never spoken to you and I am too old to be repramanded.***
Which is another way of saying that I am too old to learn, Erna. I read each of the posts attendant upon the Mass notary spoof I started; none was critical of you or your language.
The problem with the approach of "you should only read their posts and ignore the rest of us" is the natue of the board. If one signs on and starts going through the latest posts sequentially, every post is going to come up. Whether it is read or not, you have to go to the trouble to click it off. You are apparently easily offended; if that surmise is correct, you may wish to assume a lower profile in environments such as this.
You posted too frequently, in the view of one long-time participant here. Why don't you just take that as the view of one person, evaluate it, and if it has no merit, ignore it. If, on the other hand, you ascertain that it is meritorious -- as I suspect you will, when you get over being miffed -- then simply adjust your behavior and go on.
| Reply by ERNA_CA on 4/1/05 1:13am Msg #29071
I have no need of adjusting my behavior. But on the other hand I have every right and even an obligation to stand up for my self. I am a paid member of this bord and therefore have the same right as you to post on here, If your wish is to eliminate all but your so called long standing members wich are the only ones worthy of your respect Then i sugest you have no place in an open forum as it seems to ofend you. I did not invade your space. I was invited to sign up on this forum. But noone warned me that the so called long standing members would object to my presence and even stoop so low as post dirogatory remarks towards me or treat me as you just did. If you dont want me to post too frequently perhaps it would be a good idea not to atack me or make arogant statements about me or others, as it ofends me to see such behaviour as much as it ofends you to have your personal space invaded ( personal space meaning this board) . I promis i wount make any comments about your lenthy posts if you dont mention my freqent posts. I was not handed a manual as to number of posts when i signed up on this forum.

Erna: Unfortunately, Hugh has a skin like an elephant. You will have to do better than that! Your ladylike insult and attempt to put Hugh in his place reminds me of my son's grandparents. - - - She was an adoring wife, a true southern lady of German descent who wore her blond hair long (and up) until she was 82. Her husband adored his purebred Brahma bull, oranges, her, and her hair which he platted every night before bed. They were a true love story.
She is a devout Presbyterian who hates drinking. He was a devout Presbyterian who got drunk every Christmas Eve when she threw a big Christmas party.
I will never forget the night she had finally had enough... around 25 years ago. At 72 she was still a very beautiful woman. (At 20 she was astounding.) Mr. Joe stumbled in and tried to kiss her. To this day she denies that she was so "hateful" to him, but I heard it.
She told him "I will NEVER, EVER peel your oranges at lunch again!"
- - - BTW, my great-grandmother was born in Sweden.

I've only been lurking since my last discussion with you.
You contribute a lot, but you leave a lot of grief in your wake. Why can't you find a way to contribute without also doing that? That, I think, is a sign of true maturity.

I'm sorry, I don't recall our last discussion. You have a better memory than I. In fact, you probably have a better many things that I -- body, checkbook, disposition, significant other, trust fund maybe?
I am at heart an editor. Editors don't accomplish what they need to accomplish if they sugar-coat their directives/suggestions. You point out the things that, if addressed, will get the job done. You don't say things that have no purpose and that sting, but you do say things that need to be said even if they do sting. I bring the same attitude and approach here. If that offends you, you appear to have several choices: Don't read my posts; read them and lash back; or read them, extract from them whatever you find valuable, and act upon it.
Conversely, as a writer I have had to learn to accept editorial guidance without taking it personally. That attitude is critical if you ever hope to reach your full potential.
If you ever find that I have said something that was offensive without any real purpose, please call my hand on it. It needs to be said, and I need to hear it. The same goes for posting something that needs to be said, but is said in an unnesscessarily offensive manner. I'll listen.
