I must have the plague

Started of with a somewhat busy schedule for the next couple of days. Phones rang today...one after the other calling to cancel. Do you all find some companies tend to cancel more than others?

**sigh**

Definately, I was just telling my wife I get a ton of orders at the 1st of the month from a particular company...then a couple cancel a week later.

One reason for cancellation ...

... is that the appointment may have been scheduled with the NSA by the signing service before the borrower knew anything about it.

Case in point: I got a call from signing service M to schedule a signing for borrower C on the 25th at 7:30 PM. Couldn't reach borrower. Calls to both home and work were not returned. Come 7:25 PM I knocked on borrower's door. Big dog barked inside. Storm door was closed but inside door was ajar. Neighbor hollered "They're in Arizona". Long story short, the borrower did not know appointment had been set! They arrived (direct from airport) 3/4 hour later. When borrower saw closing costs, he hit the roof. Stopped signing. I was directed by signing service M to shred the docs.

Another case: Signing service N had me scheduled for an appointment on 23rd or 24th for borrower B. When I called the borrower he had no idea that he had been approved! He verbally cancelled. Signing service N called me again to schedule the appointment for the 26th. I could not reach borrower at home or work. (Two new sets of docs arrived on two consecutive days! That made a total of three sets.) The only way for me to contact borrower was to show up at his doorstep on the 26th. Again, he had no idea I was coming. To say that he was upset is to put it mildly. I was afraid of his heart. I called the signing service on my cell phone and had the borrower talk to them. He calmed down a little, but was still steamed. I will be amazed if he ever does business with the person who arranged the loan(s).

So, what's my point?r It may have absolutely nothing to do with the NSA. It may be the borrower, the broker, or the lender. We get caught in a bind. In the first example, I did not get paid for 3/4 hour of my time sitting in a cold car. In the second case, I probably won't get paid for any of my time or cell phone usage. Oh, did I mention that I'd turned down other signings because I'd already scheduled those two?r Gee, I might even have been paid for the signings I turned down.

Bottom line: It happens. Nobody enjoys it. It's a cost of doing the business we do.

It Happens

I've had companies cancel on me also -- #1 Some have found lower fee NSA's (don't think this is good business but, I have this stuff written down and will not accept any signings from them again).
#2 Had companies cancel and tell me they will call me when it's rescheduled - they never did and found someone else to do the signing. Then one had the nerve to call me a few weeks later and tell me I made a mistake in Notarization, and it needs to be corrected. Some of these companies have not got a clue what they are doing. All I can do is refuse to work for these idiots again.
