Pen of Choice

Just curious.....What type of pens does everyone like to use for their notarial duties/signings?

I've always liked my silver, black-ink Parker pen!

I buy uni-ball gel grip medium point. Medium point is useful, compared to full, for getting signatures into the absurdly small spaces on a lot of the docs.

Keep several black AND blue in case. Have several lenders that want dark blue ink only.

How ironic - I was about to post the same question. I like Mont Blanc and the ceramic pens from Kyocera - but they're too expensive to risk being left/taken at the borrower's house.

Plain old BIC blue & black. However, when I hand them to the borrowers, I always tell them that the pens crossed the Mississippi with my great-grandmother in a Conestoga wagon and are family heirlooms, and that I WILL be repossessing them after the signing. They get a chuckle, and I always get my pens back. If it is a client who looks like he might be able to send me some business, I will give him a really nice silver company pen.

"... really nice silver company pen"?

I'm going to avoid the obvious silly questions, Emperor Hugh, and just ask whether they're engraved / printed with your company's name and phone number. Also, if you buy 'em by the dozen (or other quantity), have you found a place with a great price?

As ever, thanks!

Ernest asks, jealously:

Yes they are engraved with Signing Agents of Austin and the phone number, and yes, they are quite inexpensive and look like they cost many times what they did. I buy them in lots as low as 50. The best promotional products with the best prices are from National Pen Co. Great specials, and even regular prices are exceptionally low.

Take a look at the anodized aluminum calculators. They come boxed, are comparatively easy to mail, cost only $2 as I recall, and are awesome! I couldn't do without NPC.

I fo to office Depot and buy the Pilot in packs of 12 - 12 blue and 12 black. Have a lot of companies specify what color they want so am always prepared. The pens are nice and not expensive.

As I've posted before, I put two stick pens (BIC, usually) of the appropriate color in the file folder for the specific signing.

Funny, nobody wants to keep the cheap pens. I'd never take a good pen to a signing unless I wanted to give it away as advertising (see my reply to HisHughness).
