Question

If I am a notary public from MI and I notarize a translated birth certificate, or any other document in MI, can the person use that document in IL to get married?
TIA

In CA, we do not notarized Vital record, such as birth, death, etc.

In MI if you are an authorized translator for a specific language, you can translate even a vital record, and then it has to be notarized; my question was if such document can be used in other state than MI.

Andreena,

Thanks for that info. I wasn't aware of that. However, I cannot speak another language. Took German for 3 years in high school, but can't remember a thing! :(

I suppose the decision to accept it in another state would lie with the authorities in that particular state. From what you say, you've adhered to your state's laws and procedures.
