U.P.S. air
FWIW...This is the second confirmation I have. U.P.S. does not charge the recipient of air docs an extra fee for picking up at your place! They will charge if it's ground and they have to pick up. Yey, now I don't have to go out in the rain

Stupid Question Time-Don't kill me, I'm admitting it!
UPS... Do they pick up on Saturdays?... I was being REALLLLLLLLLLLLLL smart on Saturday and drove to UPS to drop off closing docs I was returning from a Friday night closing. I was feeling so smart and responsible until I got there and the customer service counter was closed!... They're closed on Saturdays in San Diego.
I had a second package being returned via Fed Ex and the nice people at the Federal Express customer service counter were there to take my envelope and wing it on it's way to the lender.

I am actually a supervisor at UPS and if you dropped it in a drop box then the anwser is no it will not be picked up till Monday. However UPS does offer Saturday pickup at select locations for Air packages for future reference.

I HATE UPS ...
There is no Saturday pick up from drop boxes.
Saturday at 10 am, because I was going by, I went into a UPS at Staples "Service Center." Ha! UPS REQUIRES cash in advance to pay for shipment when sending out a UPS package that is billed to the receipent's UPS account on the pre-printed return label. Two people at the UPS "service" counter told me UPS service centers do not accept billing to a UPS account holder. It's cash in advance "... you pay us now, we'll give you a receipt, and then you bill the person you're sending the package to." The staffer even confirmed that the receiver had an active "good" UPS account. I then asked if this would go out today: "No. UPS doesn't have Saturday pickup at its service centers."
My reply: So... I can put this in the drop box two blocks down. UPS will bill the receiver UPS account because it is in the drop box. It will be picked up Monday at the same time as your pick up.
UPS Answer: Yes.
.. See Ya!
I then went to FedEx Kinkos, across the street from UPS, with my Saturday FedEx packages. The person at the counter scanned them in and told me they would all be picked up at noon for delivery on Monday. FYI. All FedEx drop boxes have pick up by noon on Saturday; it was just more convenient for me to go to the service center.
"What can Brown do for me?" Nothing.

Re: I HATE UPS ...
I have dropped off UPS packages at Staples many a time and never had to pay in advance.
Neither UPS nor Fedex have pick up from the boxes here on a Saturday, so if I want a Fedex out on Saturday I have to schlep over to Kinko's the next city over.

Re: I HATE UPS ...
The Brown man who comes to my office to drop off my closing docs makes my heart skip a beat... That's what Brown does for me
But as far as getting my package sent out on a Saturday for a Monday delivery, Brown can't compare to the men in blue! ;)

UPS Store Scam
I had a similar situation at the UPS store near me. When I opened a UPS account I received the welcome call and I explained that I only opened the account because the UPS store would not give me labels or allow me to bill a third-party. In fact, they directed me to go to be drop box nearby to get a blank label. The UPS customer service person on the phone was notably amazed that they had told me this. She was quite clear when she said that I should be able to get all supplies at the UPS store without additional charge and bill a third-party.
If you have this happen to you, call 1-800 PICK UPS right there.

Re: UPS Store Scam
I had someone at a UPS store tell me they do not like to use their labels for packages that are being billed to the receiver because it has their name & account number on it. If we put the wrong account number or UPS doesn't bill it right, they end up with the bill. AND, UPS would not let them order blank labels.
It's happened at least once to all of us.

Re: Stupid Question Time-Don't kill me, I'm admitting it!
Thanks for the info Dustin. I put it inside the box right outside of the customer service door and was hoping it would go out on Saturday. Next time I'll call UPS (infact I'll call today) to find out what locations they pick up from for future reference.

Re: Don't worry about Sat pickup.
Don't worry about getting Fri. nite closing packages picked up on Sat. If there is a RTC, it would be Tues night. Nothing can be done until Wed. Package sent Mon, gets there Tues. nothing done until Wed.
My nearest Sat UPS pickup is 25 miles away. Fat chance I'm going to drop it off. My nearest FEDEX Sat pickup is 14 miles away. Fat chance I'mgoing to drop it off.
Just drop it in the nearest box. If they actually say they must have it Mon, Cha-ching !!! $25 (in writing) gets it there.

lol... I like the way your mind works... lol
My thought (was) that they'd think I was a super duper person by going the extra mile and getting it to them bright and early Monday morning and they'd put a gold star next to my name and call me again REAL SOON!
I know... I live in a fantasy world.

My understanding is that the $10 pick up charge is if you have the docs picked up on a Saturday. A UPS driver had told me there was a pick up fee during the week. I was stopping at one of those Pack N Ship places, they told me they have a $1 fee if it is UPS. I had seen a UPS van in the same plaza, so I decided to walk over and hand it to him. I mentioned that I was going to drop it off at the Pak N Ship place but didn't like to pay a fee to do it. The driver said someone has to pay for the pick ups, and would I rather pay $10 for him to pick it up (and it wasn't on a Saturday!)

Within a mile of me there is a former Mail Boxes etc Store that is now a UPS Store- they open at 10 AM Saturday- for UPS Packages from my Friday signings, thats where I bring them.
Fed Ex will pick up here on Saturday at the house, (or like last Saturday I drove to Fed Ex Routing Office 10 miles away, at 9 AM - dropped pkg. off inside at the counter, and it went out for Monday delivery.) (Drop Boxes for UPS and Fed Ex say no Saturday/Sunday Pick- ups)
I want that package out of my hands ASAP- even if I decide to go the miles to get rid of it. Just keeping the ball in the others court.

Boy am I glad that UPS and FedEx pick up on Saturdays in my area. Getting the docs off to them ASAP makes life easier for me. If I had my choice though, I would pick FedEx any day over the "brown".
