What do you think

I performed a closing for a mortgage person last week and he asked me how the business was. I told him that last month was great and that this month has been slow, he told me to expect it to get slower and slower because less people are going to be refinancing and buying homes and such, he went on the explain the reasoning behind that comment, it made sense, and so far (this month) I have only performed his closing.........what do you guys think, how are you guys doing???

I think Spring & Summer are always a good time for my area, but save your money. The winter months could be harsh.

For me, typically the first and second week are slow, 2 or 3 aweek, but then the third week I find myself having to turn down business, that's when everyone wants to close by month's end. Last month was my best in the business and most of it was made in 6 days.
I feel refinancing is down but people are still buying homes. I'm trying to get with local lenders, mortgage companies, etc to start doing purchase loans, I'm having a hard time. I think they are so used to using attorneys and don't know much about mobile notaries. You also can do other notary work and field inspection to add to your income.
Just find time everyday to register with more companies.

Re: "Expaning" My Business Locally

I've only been called for one or two this month, so far. March was a VERY good month for me (I do this part time, for now). I have NOT registered with a bunch of companies because I only really got out there at the end of February (although I started in November of last year, but didn't market myself enough). Since I also work a full time job and was kept busy during the month, I just didn't have much extra time for marketing.

I am feeling the effects now.

I am hoping that calls start picking up any day now. I don't have enough experience to gage if I'm on target or not for the month. However, I read somewhere (someone on this board gave the link) that with rates going up, there will be less refinancing and Helocs.

If that is so, I am going to start having to visit my local companies in order to "turn them on" to Mobile Notaries (expansion, if you will).

If someone has invented a letter they use to make the initial introduction, I would really appreciate it if you would be willing to send me a copy ([e-mail address]).

Thanks,
Mysti
