Wheres the work?
I read so many posts about how busy Notary Signing Agents are, often having to turn down work. I can't seem to find any! How are you doing it?
I live in Ventura County California and the real estate market here is booming....maybe my timing has been bad, being relatively new in this business maybe this County is saturated with NSA's.
I just can't surmise it...it's bumming me out. I am raring to go :-)
Any tips on networking will be appreciated.

Trust me I feel the same way. I've been doing a search on yahoo and msn for notary signing services to register with, I faxed in a bunch of info but here's a site you can also try that has a whole list of signing services that you can register with. It's not guaranteed work but it's a start... try http://site.ivenue.com/fallguys/signingco.ivnu or this one is good too http://www.fallguyiii.com/signingco.html#S i'd try this one first.

Re: Wheres the work? - Sorry for the long response, but..
Carol, I hear ya! I'm in Ventura County as well and the only calls I seem to get are the bottom of the barrel that no one else will take or the fee is too low. I have a long story to tell about one today where the SS tells me it's a simple refi tonight. No problem, says I. I download their "simple" refi to the tune of 120 docs. Then, after printing those I get another attachment emailed with 7 other docs with at least 15 to 20 in each! It turns out to be not only a refi, but a transfer of ownership from ex wife to ex husband, he promising to pay her off out of the refi that he and new wifey are taking out on the house. Apparently this signing was supposed to take place last night, but was cancelled. Gee, I wonder why? Also included in this "simple" refi. is a loan app that hubby has to fill out and sign for a HELOC that only contains his name and address with all other info needing to be filled out. Needless to say, viewing the additional attachments, I called SS to decline, and let him know that not only is it unprofessional to do what he did by not being honest, but had he been honest, I would have declined then and he could have found someone else. I wasted about 2 1/2 hours on this. Then, I get an email from lender saying that the borrower called them yelling and screaming that I told them that I didn't have the docs and couldn't do their signing! I wrote back that I didn't know what she was talking about, but after downloading the first set of docs, I had called borrower at work to confirm appt and that number was incorrect. I then called the home number leaving a message on their machine of who I was, and that the appt was set for 6pm tonight and to please call me to confirm, etc. Perhaps they were confusing me with the signing that had been cancelled from last night. Anyway, I wouldn't have taken that job if they had paid me $300.00. This is the kind of work that I seem to be getting called for.

Colleen: That was a wild story! I sometimes feel like I should put together a list of questions to ask the SS when they call me for a job (when I get them that is: and to avoid 120 page surprises)..., but I am sure with all the l"iittle suprises" that we get my list would be never ending. If your ever in a pinch and need some assistance with your calls you can find my phone number in the member directory: Carol Lengyel, Port Hueneme.
