got a call for a signing. recieved confirmation, replied as requested, 15 min later recieved another e-mail stating "Sorry Disregard the previous confirmation". So I am to consider the job cancelled? I spoke to the borrower just minutes prior to the e-mail confirming the appointment.

Just call them
Whoever phoned you for the signing, call them and ask for clarification. WIth them sending you possibly conflicting information, you have nothing to be shy or apologotic for. Make them clarify, your time is valuable.
