Before finding this site I made the mistake and bought an expensive inkjet printer. I have since read everything I could find here and am thinking about getting a HP1320tl. They are very expensive though, and I am just getting started. I now have an opportunity to buy a Brother mfc 8220 for $200 and then I would buy an xtra tray. What do you think?

How does your dell 1700 work? I bought the same printer with the optional bottom drawer and upgraded the memory. I am now on my third one, it jams about every 4 or 5 pages. I have not been able to print an entire loan package yet. (Thank goodness I have a backup HP) I am very unhappy with the printer and Dell because thay will not send out a tech. All they want to do is exchange it. Hence, I'm on my thrid in about 3 months. Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi Toni,
I have a Brother MFC 8220. I did buy the extra tray because I use all the functions including the fax and copier. With one tray (which I had for about a month), I was constantly switching trays (kept it with regular sized paper because of the fax and copy modes) and then putting in legal only when I needed to do docs.

Now, I have both and boy is it lovely! I simply request legal when I print and pulls from the legal tray.

I have had only one doc viewer where I needed to pull out the regular paper because it pulled from both trays depending on the original paper used. I wanted ALL legal so I had to put legal in both trays.

This printer emulates the PCL5, so you are able to print anything that comes your way!

I love it!
