turning down work - yes or no

There are a lot of postings re: various signing servies with comments like"....I won't work for them again with all the fax backs, micromanaging etc..."

In any business you have preference for who you will work for. Some are pains in the butt, so go very smoothly. It is a business decision as to who you will work for and who you won't. As a construction engineer, many a time I've given work to a company who were real pains BUT, they did good work at a fair price. My objective was to complete the project on time and under cost.

In the NSA business we have to make the same types of decisions. If a SS is difficult to work with for some reason, you determine under what conditions you will accept work. i.e.
I will work for almost anyone if they send me a check with the overnite package - even Sign on the X. I won't work for them otherwise. I'll do ameriquest loans, but at an increased fee. I am willing to fax back 25 pages, be called 10 times from the date of assignment to completion - at my increased fee. Unless my conditions are met, I turn the work down.

All these postings of absolutes must be coming from people who have more work than they can handle.

How many of you would turn down an assignment for $200, refi, overnite package, 2 miles from your house?, with check in package? Not many !! even from Sirianni? Think about it. We are selling our time and expertise, more time and hassle - higher fee. You determine the yes/no point of (hassle + fax back + slow pay) vs fee.

I agree with that Art. I am thinking like that too. I would even serve them coffee for $200.00 for an hour lol

I also agree, and I have served coffee and cookies at my house when new to the neighborhoods have called and ask if we could close at my house instead of theirs because of the disarray of their home. I didn't have to do anything but answer the door. I was paid well for this loan. The people were local and very nice. The SS will always remember that I went out of my way for them. Which actually was easier for me. It makes for good future business. I only have local people come to my home on very rare occasions.

I will turn down work from some companies because of the following reasons: non payment, Consistent documents error, or fear of being named in a law suite. (ameriquest)
I will charge some companies more because they are more difficult. I work for more good companies than bad..............

I turned down work from one of my better clients on Friday. Reason it was an 8pm appointment 2 hours away from me, It was a countrywide loan so that means the docs won't get to me until 9pm (if I'm lucky) So I would not get home till 1am or later.

Well, I've only been at this since the end of February so, I don't know who is a "bad" company since I haven't gone over a month without payment. Everyone has met my price even though I've made some pricing errors, but that may be because the majority of calls I get are for same day work.

However, I know my day is coming. In the meantime, the only two companies that I did turn away, was because I was booked solid that night or two, and I just told them that I didn't have the availability.

Re: turning down work - yes or no Mysti..

Mysti,

I stongly suggest that you do searchs using "avoid" and "no no". You will find that there are a number of companies that most of this board's members will avoid. Read the suggestions/warnings about using other peoples "no no" list.
Also, click on "signing services" tab. Companies with less that 4 stars have had several bad reports.

Good luck,

Art
