Borrower did not know about loan???
I received an order for edocs with an open time for signing, which I must say came in quite promptly to my email. When I did finally reach the borrower, they supposedly had never even returned application package............ Did not even know about the loan, and were out of town on vacation when I spoke with them! The SS called me numerous times to make sure that I had received and printed the docs, and confirmed with the bo.... So, I contacted the SS, and was told that I would not be paid for printing the docs, only if it had been a no show. Would you contact the title co. about this, or just eat it? Of course, I will never work for this ss again. UGH!

Also, the SS told me that they had a specific contract with the lender, and the lender would not pay them under these circumstances......... Thanks

There was no reason to have printed the docs until you had confirmed with the borrower, which would have prevented your printing them for nothing. Don't let an ss tell you how to run your business.
Further, it was the ss that hired you, not the lender; thier lender issues are not your issues.
Chalk this one up to experience and don't work with that ss again. There are plenty of others that do the right thing.

Considering that the SS was handholding & insisted you print the docs--my attitude would be they pay for the printing. And I'd raise a stink over it--realizing that neither of us would ever want to work with the other again. I see no reason why we should have to eat the cost of their handholding. Make 'em pay!

I agree with Lee. Under most circumstances, I will wait until I have confirmed w/ the borrower to print the Docs. That said, there have been times when a "new to me" SS pesters me about making sure all the docs printed before I get a call back from the borrower. If they "instruct" me to print the docs, they will get invoiced in the event that the closing is canceled.

There is a thread further down started by a SS on this issue. Guess you just have to chalk this one to know who's good and ugly.

Had a few "We are still shopping for best deal..."
I've had a few where the signing company sends me the confirmation, including date and time. Borrowers hard to reach and don't return phone calls. When I finally reach them I'm told, "We haven't even decided which lender we are going to use. We're still negotiating the best deal. We aren't committing to any one lender yet." I thank them, give them my name and number if they need an NSA. Tell the signing company.
FYI. I've never heard back from any of the "shoppers." But then it was ME they were PO'd at for bothering them in the first place.

Re: Borrower did not know about loan??? Fraud?
I would contact both the title company & the lender. I certainly would not eat the cost of this one. Techincally, to meet the requirement of the title company, the borrowers were a "No Show."
Please tell us the name of the title company.
