First for me
Singing company called me last night at 5pm to do a signing at 6pm Borrower already had Docs. I told them that I could get there till 6:30pm, that was OK. When I got to the borrowers house she was suprised to see me as her appt was for today at 6pm and she didn't have any Docs. Called the lendor and SS, the SS had the wrong date. I'm making them pay my full fee.

I'm curious...
why didn't you call to confirm with borrowers? The most they'll probably do is give you a trip fee.

Re: I'm curious...
Called the borrower and only got a machine, they didn't call back. The SS agreed to pay the full fee since it was their mistake.

Re: I'm curious...
Not to be nitpicking, but you previously said that Borrowers were surprised to see you -- didn't your voice message specify the *date* and the *time* that you would meet them?

Re: I'm curious...
Just a note, I no longer leave the date and time on voicemail. You don't know who may be getting the message and some borrowers don't want other family members to know.

Re: May be it's just me
If I got a call to do a scheduled signing in one hour and was told that the Borrowers had the docs, I would wait for confirmation from Borrowers that they *did* have the docs.

**I'm making them pay my full fee**
Regardless of *whose* at fault for the misunderstanding, I don't understand why you are requesting *full fee* and why SS has agreed to pay *full fee* -- a trip fee, yes, but not full fee. How far did you have to travel? Are you doing the signing tonight? Is this a SS you have worked with before?
IMO, it is better to keep a good working relationship with the SS in order to be given more signings than to make them pay full fee for an incident like this and to never hear from them again.

Wow! Full fee. The most I've ever gotten was a trip fee for such. Great.

Re: Sorry to be hung up on this ...
It was not a misunderstanding it was a miscommunication between the Loan officer and the SS, my confirmation had 8/18. They offered the full fee, I was charging the (full) trip fee for a no sign, travel distance was 45 miles round trip in rush hour traffic. I have only done one other signing with this SS before, but my signing was one that they randomly called to get feedback and I got a glowing report from the borrower. They have not called for me to do the signing tonight so I do not think that I am going back out to there.

Re: Sorry to be hung up on this ...
Ok maybe I haven't had a good nights sleep but I would clarify whether they want you to go do it tonight. If they didn't specificaly say "we will get another notary" they probably still consider you hired for the job. I think for all parties sake you should call and confirm with ss the status. Just tell them you weren't sure and didn't want to leave anyone high and dry.
