Getting work ect...

Am I suppose to "sign up" for the SS or will they just find me? I am a newbie.

I am new too. But I know enough to tell you that you need to sign up. Actually, I have read on here that you should sign up with at least 200 companies. Also, if you do a search (when you go into notary talk there is a search field) using key words you will find more information then you will know what to do with! This is such a great sight. These other notaries are so knowledgeable.

Good luck!

Thanks Teresa. But am I suppose to do more than be a member on this sight? Is there a place to actually register with the companies? ( I am sorry if I am not making sense)

Actually there are many places to go. You can do a search online by typing in signing services. You will get many places that you can sign up. It isn't a quick process. Alot of times you have to sign up on the website and then fax things to them (such as their contract, w-9, and other info).

There is a list that you have access to when you become a paid member on this site. Also there is a website www.fallguyiii.com (or something like that) that is really great. It has links to hundreds of signing services in alphabetical order.

Also, use the search feature on this site and type in signing service, getting started, and things like that. I swear that I have found so much great information here. Sometimes I will search for one thing and I find information on things that I wasn't looking for that I really needed to know.

There is a library of information right here.

The first thing you should do is read message #33325. The next thing is sign up as a premier member on this site... on 123Notary... and a few others.

Use the Signing Service links that are available to premier members on these sites to go on each company's website and follow their individual instructions for sign-up.

Use your name

The next thing you should do is use your name and state. Using your name shows that you have confidence in yourself and using your state lets other notaries address your questions with better answers, since states have different laws.

How do you expect to get business when you post anonymous? Let everyone know who you are and what you do. Also advertise and register.

How Can You Blame People for posting Anon?

There are so many arrogant jerks on this board that will chew a newbie up and spit them out, how can you expect everyone to actually post their name? My suggestion for a newbie would TO NEVER post your name at first (your State, YES!) -- read all the free boards and soak of the info FIRST before taking the plunge and posting your name.
