I turned down a signing after accepting..
I have never done this before, but I had to turn down a signing after I'd accepted it.
Got a call from a new-to-me SS. Very nice, professional etc. (Good and not so good reviews on this site) They wanted me to do a HELOC with edocs tomorrow about 10 miles RT from my house for $85. I was kind of on the fence as the fee included the edocs. So I asked how big the package was, how many pages to be exact. The scheduler didn't know but when I asked if it was 50 pages or less she said she thought so.
Anyway, I got the email and it turns out the HELOC was 100 pages! So that's 100 printed for the lender and 100 printed for the borrower.
I contacted the SS and requested that my fee be raised $15, since I wasn't informed that this was a 100-page package, and I was going to be printing legal and letter and spending a lot of time and materials doing it.
They said no to the extra $15. I said thank you anyway and that was that.
I've never cancelled after the fact before. And I feel kind of bad about it. But in my area, there is bound to be someone who WILL take the job for $85. I used to also, but I've learned better.
Now I'll know to ask about specific kinds of HELOCS. I do a lot of Citibank HELOCs and they're like 25 pages long. I'll know to ask about the specific lender next time!

Why make the job more complicated than you need to? You shouldn't have separate edoc fees depending on the size of the package, you should just have one and stick to it. Your signing fees should be established as well. I don't see any reason to ask about the specific lender before quoting a fee unless there are certain lenders like Ameriquest that you flat out refuse to do signings for.
As for the letter & legal size printing, that's also unnecessary. If you just print everything on legal size paper you'll be fine.

Unless you are that busy I think you should have taken it and remember for next time. I my area there are to many bottom feeders.

Dont assume its OK to print everything on legal sized paper! Most lenders DO have a preference, and it is not all legal sized.

I'd say most lenders DO NOT have a preference. I've done edocs for all sorts of lenders over the past 2 years, always all legal sized with one exception, and the exception emailed 2 pdf files - 1 for legal, 1 for letter. In 2 years, not once has it been an issue that I printed on all legal. And I've seen a lot of other posts on this board from people who also print everything on legal.
Unless you're spefically told otherwise, it is perfectly OK to assume you can print everything on legal.

This one was specific. i.e., pages 1-24 - Legal, pages 25-27 - Letter, etc., etc., all the way through to page 100.
When I do get assignments with edocs, I usually ask, just to be sure, if it's ok to print everything on legal and it usually is fine.

And.......I just received a call from a lender to do a $150 signing tomorrow morning at the same time this other one was scheduled for.....
So I've learned from this to just stick to one fee for signings. Whoever said it earlier was right, it's too complicated otherwise!

I to have signed for over 2 years and it is much better to use legal on everything than try to figure out what goes on letter and legal. Legal is acceptable everytime.

Legal isn't acceptable every time! Most times it is OK. LSI in California, on their e-mailed docs they will not use you if you cannot print both legal and letter size. They send a test file.

Why do you have to figure out what goes on what? Don't you let the printer doall the work? It requires no thought if you have the right equipment I guess.

Sheila you are right. My printer does it all as long as I have both size paper in the trays.

I have a friend in arkansas and she told me that now the clerk's will reject recording documents if they are on legal size paper. Everything must be letter size.

Using legal size paper is OK for almost 90% of the edocs
I thought one year ago that most notaries would have to have a dual tray laser printing capability to get edoc loan singings from title/signing-companies.
I was wrong and in the year 2005 just print the ecocs on Legal size paper and you will satisfy 90% of the companies that hire you. A company sends you a file that says print on letter and then print the next part on legal thats not too hard for any of us to follow.

Re: Using legal size paper is OK for almost 90% of the edocs
LSI in CA requires you to have dual tray. They send you some sample docs to print out, using a program that automatically prints out without viewing. They are mixed sizes, so unless you have the dual tray you cannot print the mixed sizes, and they won't use you for edocs.
