J. G. Wentworth Structured Settlements
You have probably seen this company's ads on TV. A person is receiving periodic payments from an insurance annuity, lawsuit or some other source and wants a lump sum of money instead of payments spread over years. J. G. Wentworth will give the person a lump sum now and Wentworth will receive the future periodic payments.
My experience with Wentworth was they called me to travel 170 miles round trip, on April 29, 2005, to notarize documents for their client. I was told to include my invoice for "notary services" with the notarized documents and I'd be paid in a week. It's now August 11, 2005 and Wentworth tells me the court did not approve the new plan and they are not paying me. Wentworth says I should try to collect from their client.

Their client did not hire
they did. Send a demand for payment that includes your intention for collection and or suit. Send it registered mail. If they do not respond, act accordingly and make sure that CC your demand letter to your States Attorney General, and the AG of the state of these slimeballs. When judgement comes, if they do not settle, I would find the nastiest collection agency I could and turn it over at once. PS... I would also notify the BBB in both areas, so their prospective clients and or vendors know how they do business.

They did the same thing to me - they owe me over $200 as I had to make more than one trip! They say I have to collect from the client! Client says he is not responsible, that JG Wentworth is the one who should be paying it.

I am ALI-IL I don't know how to add that to the author section.
Anyway I did a signing for them in April got paid in July. They told me held my check because didn't have my address. Along the way the client was disputing his charges for notary fee. They had told him it would be half of what they paid me. He was told that he should call me directly to get fee reduced. I told client that I wanted my full fee. And, that someone had to pay me. JG Wentworth paid me full amount.
Everytime I called them got switched to a bunch of people every time.
