Lighthouse Title Agency Corp.
Has anyone had any document shipments to LTA Corp charged back to them recently by UPS? We shipped a package in April with their shipper number. We have been called by UPS wanting payment. When we explained the situation and gave them the shipper number we were informed that LTA Corp had closed their shipper account with UPS and refused to pay any invoices, therefore the charge automatically reverted back to the shipper. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

In the future, always use the blank handwritten shipping labels for the various carriers.
Never use your own name and address as the shipper, otherwise you leave yourself open to being charged.
Whoever is the receiver of the docs should be listed as the shipper of the docs as well.
I learned this the hard way years ago. After being charged three times, it finally sunk through that if I do not want to be charged, I shouldn't have my name and address anywhere on the shipment label.

Well, this is the first time this has happened to me. I always knew this was a possibility and am probably lucky it hasn't happened before now. I will definitely be using the handwritten forms in the future.
Thanks for the nugget o' joy!! 8)

Yeah but if you have a UPS account your account number is part of the tracking number. I know because it's happened to me even though I handwrote out the form.

<...UPS account your account number is part of the tracking number.>
That's true, it's happened to me as well. You have to *CALL* UPS and order blank labels that are not attached to your account #.
They will come with a bogus acct # on them, and you just draw a line through that and write the receiver acct # to the right of it.
If you continue to order blank labels on line, UPS will always embed your acct # into the tracking #.
Thank goodness FedEx does not do that.

Somewhere in the past on this board, I think I remember some one suggesting putting the receivers name in both places- and bring to a UPS drop box.
(Make sure you keep the Shippers Copy- to show it was sent )
