New to the business

I'm new to the business and have a few questions. I've been doing research on the internet for the past 3 months about being a mobile/signing agent, before I do my first closing. I don't know if I'm ready until I actually get out there and do one. But before I do could someone answer the following questions?

1. I've been out looking at laser jet printers. What is a reasonable priced printer to get me started? Should I get a 3-in-one?

2. What are the average fees charged by a signing agent?

I would gladly appreciate all the information one can share before I do my first signing.

Welcome!

As the previous poster suggested, use the orange search button to do some research on the cost of laser jets. I've been fortunate enough to be able to use a printer at work to print out my loan docs and haven't had to shop around for a printer. There's a lot of good information on this message board on printers.

As for average fees charged, look that up as well. Because you're new the siging companies will look to you for bargain basement rates. Most people will tell you not to accept anything lower than $50 per signing.

It cost money to be in this business: travel, paper, office equipment, etc. Don't sell yourself short; but be flexible with your pricing when first starting out. Get your experience and a client base. Do the best job you possibly can and you'll do fine.

Best wishes!

Isn't WV an attorney only state?

My understanding has been that WV is an attorney-only state for loan signings. Better check with your SOS and/or WV Bar group to make sure you can even do signings before you make any equipment investments.
