Notarial Journal
From the beginning I've been using a Journal even though FL doesn't require it. I like the idea of keeping one to protect myself and the borrower(s) should the need ever arise. The problem I'm having however is trying to keep the information neat and tidy. One question I have for those of you who have the NNA Journal is this. Do you use one line (blocks) for both borrowers or do you copy down to the next line (blocks) the information from the first signer up to the signature block? I hope what I'm trying to say makes sense.

I also use a NNA journal. I'm new, only have a few signings under my belt and would really like to find a new method for doing entries. I use a new line or block for each signer and each document notarized. So if I have 2 documents notarized then I have 4 entires in journal. So it gets very redundant, coping the same info (name address of signer, id infor etc) over and over again. how do you keep track?

I use one line per signature notarized - if ther is adeed of trust & both borowers sign, I use a line for each. I do this with each signature.

The best answer--Get a mojo
Look under notary supplies, not rot has the best journal there is (imho) much easier and neater than the nna's. I liked it so much I didn't even finish my old one, and I'm never going back!

Re: The best answer--Get a mojo
I'm withyou Christi - I didn't finish my old one either (and it's pretty worn out anyway). I love mojo!
I had to get my handbook out to figure out if I had to return my old book to the county clerk. I found a statement that said to "only keep ONE sequential journal" but still haven't come to a conclusion on returning my old one.
I guess I'll call the SOS and ask them.

Just void out the pages in the old one that you didn't use. I would put a diagonal line thru it date it the day you quit using it an initial it. You keep all journals until you resign you commission.

Re: Sorry!! I meant a MoJo...
I goofed! I really meant a "mojo" journal not NNA's. Even with this I find it difficult at times to record the necessary information neatly. As an example, let's say that you have documents to notarize that have different dates on them and/or you have a number of documents to notarize that are not listed in the "notarization block". I find trying to squeeze the necessary information into that area below the "notarization block" sometimes tight and I print fairly small. I also have a journal I got from ASN (haven't use it) and although it has larger areas to write in, it doesn't have nearly the capability of the mojo. Each block only allows for three document entries!
