Very slow on my end, I keep thinking something is wrong with my phone, so I call it every once in a while to make sure it works. Yep, it is working.

Re: Slow, check last years APRs
it is slow and its going to get slower, the loan rates have gone up and things are getting back to normal as this extremely hot loan cliamte cools off. There will probably be an actual lull until the loans start coming through just the normal process of business. Most anyone who wanted to re-fi or get a better interest rate has.

Re: so why are so many people going into this field ??
I am not sure. I think a lot of people hear ads on the radio or get fliers in the mail suggesting that this is a sure fire, get rich quick kind of occupation. I love the work, but, it is work and not just a "jump right in and start raking in the big bucks" kind of business, as it has been reported.

The NNA!!! Promises of big bucks and how there is a shortage of notaries to do loan signings!

Re: so why are so many people going into this field ??
I agree! At least that's a big part of it within the notary community, but there is also a popular talk radio station here in SoCal that is advertising to the general public (for NotaryClasses.com??) making the "big bucks" claim -- or at least implying it -- from what I have heard. I think that's why so many people are getting in who weren't even notaries before. I doubt most of them will last, but it's a shame they have been misled... And also they were probably told to come to these websites where they can get ALL their questions answered. It's my guess that that is why so many new people come here with an attitude of entitlement, looking for the easy path -- at least I hope so!! ;>)

Re: so why are so many people going into this field ??
My favorite escrow officer called me today to complain about the steady stream of notaries looking for business in her escrow office. She asked me, "where do these guys come from, I've had three notaries in my office today looking for work, and I DON'T hire outside people". She has a list of at least 15 notaries she can call if her own assistants can't do the work.

Re: so why are so many people going into this field ??
Thanks to the NNA Colorado is becoming really glutted with NSAs. I just did a search of notaries within 30 miles from me and in looking at the date of the individual profiles, it's almost like clock work -- i.e., I don't even need a calendar to see the dates that NNA held their seminars.
I'm not afraid of the additional competition -- what I am concerned about are the cut-throat tactics and low balling these new NSAs are using in order to *get their foot in the door*, *gain experience* and/or just use the excuse that "a little money for signings is better than nothing."

I was really busy the first two weeks of the month and last week I was on vacation and had only 4 calls while I was away. But today nothing. I only have one scheduled for this week so far.
