Stacking Order

I've consulted "search" on this subject, but I'm not sure I fully understand the "stacking order" concept. When we're talking about "stacking order" are we discussing returning docs in the order we received them or are we talking about rearranging them in a different order for the escrow officer? I'm new and agonize over every signing, wondering "did I do it right". "Did I screw up so bad that they're getting another notary to fix my mistakes"!! With the last signing I did there was a "Stacking Order" sheet and I didn't do anything with it. I just returned the docs the way I received them. Now I'm starting to wonder if this is wrong! So far I haven't heard from anyone, escrow Officer, signing service or lender, but the day is still young!

I believe you are supposed to always return the docs in the order you received them, unless specified otherwise. I think if they wanted you to return it in a specific order, they'd give you a sheet to put it in that order. Don't worry about mistakes, even the best notaries can make a mistake....we're human. In general, if there is a stacking order sheet, it's not for the notary. It's for Escrow. Don't start doing it as they probably tear it apart 8 ways to Sunday before they reassemble it in whatever order THEY are instructed to do. Next thing you know, they'll have us doing it all the time... not a good idea for us, fersure.

I agree with Glen that the stacking sheet is for escow. Many times there are other sheets in the loan docs that don't have anything to do with us as signing agents. Don't worry just send it back in the order it came in.

stacking order is for the L.O. or escrow, not for us. I have never had a prob sending back docs the way I get them.
I know how it feels to agonize! Smiley You'll get over that feeling soon

I stack the docs w/ HUD, RTC, Note, Mortgage, TIL, then everything else stays in the order the TC Sends the docs. I also send the docs back in this order when I overnight them back with an invoice or completed confirmation form on top (if instructed to send the invoice or confirmation). I've never had a complaint about it.
