THANK YOU HARRY!!

For those of you reading this message that have not logged on, Harry has changed the board so that you can read posts without logging in, but to post a response or a new message, you must log in. This should certainly help keep this board the professional tool that it was when I first started reading it. Maybe now some of the tenured professionals will return and start contributing again.

I agree, thanks Harry. Can you maybe add a field to choose a shorter author field or include the state since you can't change the author to anything but anonymous.

Have you added a forum alias (or "handle") to your profile? Once you add the shortened version to your profile, you will have three author options:

1) Anonymous
2) Alias
3) Full Profile Name

Great. Although I must admit, I was lazy and really never logged in much!

Re: Yes! THANK YOU HARRY!! n/m

All of this is great BUT, they can still post ANON. and without a link to they're profile. The only true way to stop all the Anon. posts is to require a user name and it cannot be Anon anything.

THANK YOU - it's a start in the right direction...

I agree with Lawrence that it doesn't stop Anonymous, but it might slow it down.

Re: THANK YOU - it's a start in the right direction...

We're going to try this for now.

Removing the logged-in Anonymous option is still on the table. However, when logged-in, people are not truly "anonymous." We can more easily see who they are, making the process for dealing with abuse more straight-forward.

I also have some neat ideas related to forum moderation. I just need to flesh them out a little more and then determine how long it would take to implement them.

Considering that the anonymous option has been so abused lately. Would you consider removing the option until better means can be further explored and implemented?

"I also have some neat ideas related to forum moderation."

I say we take a page from Survivor and vote somebody off the board each week.

Better be careful what you wish for Cali, you might be first!!!!! Especially with all the "please pat me on the back and tell me how good I am for asking for all of YOUR title contacts" people on this board. Smiley
