Totally OT...bear with me, just have to post

I have a new child - an 9 wk old puppy of the Chihuahua persuasion.

AND I TURNED DOWN 3 SIGNINGS FOR IT!! (are you impressed?)

Here I've been bitching online about a slowdown in signings...and turned down flippin THREE SIGNINGS in the last 24 hours. I could kill myself!!!! To one of my favorite SS's...they were even sympathetic - as I told the truth and admitted why I was AWOL - one sweet lady from loandocsigners said...oh..how sweet!

But...this little boy is sort of worth it. Gotta go now...we have to go for a walk.

I'm back on track - Monday Smiley

Congratulations!! You must be so thrilled! Life is just that much more fun when you have a fur-ball to share it with. I somehow made it 5 years as a dogless person (AND empty-nester) and then I, too, took a day off work and drove almost 4 hours one-way to pick up our "Eddie" (a Corgi) - so I totally know how excited you must be! I'm an absolute pet-food 'vigilante', e-mail me if you're interested in info-sharing on that topic.

Happy Puppy-kisses!

I totally agree, after I had a dog die because I could not stay home because of my job. I had a ton of calls for Friday, but my 2 year old granddaughter had her tonsils/adnoids taken out it important that I be there, with this job and all the other things I do, they are all flexible. Loan signing, inspections and selling on ebay keep me pretty busy

Re: Pets are our children

Just got back from two weeks at the cabin, although I missed the first two days because of Sandy, our cocker. She just turned 4, although she still has not lost her puppy adventure. Anyway, the reason I lost two days of vacation time was because the night before leaving she was chewing on her rawhide (she is an agressive chewer) and I have to buy rawhides for agressive chewers. At any rate, she was chewing and broke off half of an upper molar and both the nerve and root were exposed. The vet had to extract the molar -- 2 days and $450 later, I got to leave for the cabin.

We wouldn't trade her for anything.

Two weeks ago today was a dark day.

Chose to put my 13-year-old cat to sleep ... she'd been seriously ill for 4-5 days, hadn't been quite right for a few months before illness showed symptoms. She was in such discomfort/maybe pain, I didn't want to wait until Monday to stop her suffering. (She showed no sign of being able to hold down any of the medications which might have helped her.)

She is sorely missed, though my grieving has mostly passed. Occasionally, I think I see her shadow out of the corner of my eye, and am comforted by the perhaps-absurd thought that her 'spirit' is visiting me.

I'm sorry Iris, I really feel for you. It is tough. I lost my cat of 13 years also about 2 years ago and I STILL think of her, especially when I turn the can opener on - that sound used to bring kitty from 1/2 mile away....TUNA! I'll never throw away my old can opener - too many memories of a full grown cat doing the 50 yard dash in under six seconds

Puppy is doing an awful lot to fill in that hole that my kitty left. I hope you can find room for another pet to love - not replace - but another one sure helps!

Life goes on! (to TitleGalCA)

As to my precious little one, I just put her dishes away today. I comfort myself by knowing she's out of pain. It isn't time yet for another -- and I haven't decided whether to rescue an older cat, or to adopt a new kitty -- and with my other studies, not a lot of time to devote these days to getting to know a new little one.

Yes, I know what you mean -- when the can opener makes that first whoosh -- there she used to be! And I still turn around, half expecting her to be there -- chirping to me to please, please, please give her the water from the tuna fish! *sigh*

Well, I am happy for you with your new chi-hua-hua (hoo-hoo) puppy! I'm certain that having a darling little wriggly, squirmy bundle of joy will go a long way toward filling that hole!

Enjoy every day of her puppyhood -- too soon they are dogs and cats!

Re: Pets are our children

I rescue min-pins from owner give ups. These dogs are rarely turned into the Animal Shelter but when they are, they call me. These dogs are amazing and give so much love. I just lost one to bladder cancer, I had her a year before she died two months ago. I took in another that did not like a new baby in the family so they wanted to give her up. She is doing great in our family with no children. If they are the only dog they can get very jealous.

Re: Congratulations!! Dogs are among the best people!

I hope you are enjoying your puppy. Dogs are just the best: they are loyal and noble. I have a Chow who is pretty much my constant conpanion. I live alone on a very rural property and my chow is an extension of my eyes and ears. while the property is close into town it is hard to find and surrounded by tall redwoods with a river and a stream flowing through it. I am constantly having propblems with people trying to live on it or trying to cultivate their crops on my property (I'm in the emerald triangle) My dog lets me know when someone shouldn't be here and she is rarely wrong. Besides being great security she is a lot of fun to play with and has a keen sense of humor. When I travel to Southern California, one of the reasons I don't fly is my dog: United is the only airline servicing our area who allows dogs but I would have to stop and change planes in LA. Enjoy your little one's puppyhood: what are you going to name your puppy?

Re: Congratulations!! Dogs are among... Charles

Charles - I'm enjoying him so much! What a little bundle he is - it's just like having a baby tho, I swear - the little thing won't leave my side (I had to ask my son to baby sit so I go to the store). I think I need one of those purses that neurotic old ladies (or Paris Hilton) carry around with their dogs heads poking out so they can see what's going on.

We name him Chachi (like in the old sitcom Happy Days). It suits him!
