What would you do?
At July EOM, performed these two signings for two separate SSs -- both from out of my state. Never heard a thing from either SS about a problem with either loan. It's now been over two weeks since the dates of signing, but a daily check of the online recording of DOTs show neither have been recorded. (Most DOTs in other out-of-state transactions record have shown up within 1 day after expiration of rescission period.)
I suspect at least one of these two sets of Bwrs cancelled the transaction, and I've no idea what happened on the other. (I was the second notary sent in on one transaction because Lender overlooked some docs in the first go-round.)
In view of past comments I've seen from numbers of you about being paid in the event of cancellation, I know the odds of getting paid are 50-50%.
However, would you just assume problems were NOT my fault unless I get a call telling me otherwise, or would you call the SSs to find out if there was something deficient in what I did?
Thanks in advance for your comments -- I never fail to learn something by reading this forum, and am so grateful.

It would depend on the SS's policies. I would check your contracts with them to see what they pay. Most do pay full fee. And it would'nt hurt to give them a call to follow up.

Well, Sandy, regardless of whether they recorded, it would be up to the signing co. to pay you for the work you did! I would not take the time to watch for recording and worry yourself over it~ Just get out there and keep going. I, personally, have never had any title co., signing co., not pay me for a loan that did not fund.

My concern is NOT about being paid ....
Rather, it is knowing whether or not something I did (or did not do). (Can you say "ob-ses-sive"? ... )
I don't expect lots of compliments, and am always surprised when I get one, but I certainly do want to know if my performance was deficient in some fashion.
Would you presume they'd have called to let me know if there was a problem?

Trust me, if you had made an error, missed signature, seal, i.e. you would have been called. To give yourself some peace of mind, give the SS's a call and find out.

Yes, I think I will just trust the silence and NOT stir things up.
Thanks for responding

P.S. add the words "was deficient"

Please add the words "was deficient" after "or did not do)."
And thanks to you for your answers, Wa notary and TinaG-CA.

Re: P.S. add the words "was deficient"
DOT = Deed of Trust.
Here in Florida I just go to the County Recorders office online and check on it.

Checking online
Here in WA, too -- same as Sylvia -- County Auditor is the recording department. May or may not depend on your county -- I believe King, Pierce, Thurston, Snohomish are online -- but can't speak to the other counties.
