copies of ID's
This is just a suggestion but it works for me. I'll bet everyone has told clients in the pre appointment phone call about having copies of their D.L. available. Well I did something to eliminate the problem of ID copies. I always have my lap top with me when I travel anyway so what I did was go out and buy a Lexmark printer-scanner-copier. It's very small, fits easily in your trunk or in the back seat of your car and if you get there and they haven't made copies it takes less than 5 minutes to set this up and they will think you are just the best thing since sloced bread for taking care of something they were asked to do.
Like I said, it's just a thought but it's a pretty simple solution to something that probably happens a lot. BTW the copier cost less 98.00 at Brandsmart and it makes EXCELLENT copies (in color also) and for around the home it's great for scanning photos etc. in to your computer.

Does it run on batteries, or do you plug it in to your lighter in the car?

I can run it off of an outlet in my car but you simply bring the copier in to the house to make a copy. It's a very small printer and you can hook it up in less than 5 minutes. I have always had the philosophy that I will do whatever it takes to get the job done.

Why would you need to make a copy of a DL in CA?

I just run up to the grocery store and have a copy made and then come back for the signing. One lady let me take it home and scan it and i returned it the next day.....

I'm not running all over hell and high water because they forgot to copy ID. First thing I very very rarely have them forget it because I say let me give you my cell phone number, after that I then say please make a written note that I need a copy of ID and then stress the importance. Thus 99% of the time for me they have ID copied. When I have the rare occasion they do forget. I have done one of 2 things. If there is a copy place close to them, I have them go after we sign and I follow them. That takes very little time. If not I give them my fax number with a deadline upon faxing it to me. Some of you may say customer service; however I am way too busy for extra work because they forgot, and I am not going to carry scanners, printers, or cameras with me. As I said my method of confirmation works for me 99% of the time.
