does anyone know a good way to market jail signings
I know this sounds funny, but I really don't live that far from the jail/prison. I have done one signing there( no it wasn't a refi, just general notary stuff). I talked with the people there and they are not allowed to hand out cards or to recommend people. There is a need for it, but I don't know how to get the business. Any thoughts from the pro's? TIA

As far as I know they have notaries inside , I used to work for an attorney and every time we tried to assist an immate they told us that they had a Notary on site and just call in advance to schedule the signing .

Different states have different have different procedures. I have been called to go to different prisons, never took them up on it. The prisoner's family, etc, has to come up with your fee.

California Spin
Brian - I've never been burned $$, believe it or not by family members for jail calls! But here's the problems we CA notaries face now: That inmate's either got to have that in-custody ID card (never seen one) or valid ID or, two credible wit's. So not worth the hassle and time for me.

Maybe in the area you're in in Florida, but up here in the Tampa area (Pasco county system anyway), they do not have in-house notaries. I've been called to go to our local jail as well as the county jails for notary work. I also got a call to go to a Federal Prison not to long ago. I couldn't do it, but referred the offer to a colleague.

One method: Find out when visiting days/hours are, wait for visitors to leave and hand out your business card - better yet, a flyer explaining EXACTLY what you can do for prisoners and their families.

the situation here is that they have notaries in the jail, but they don't like to do it for them. Mostly they do only docs about child custody cases. This is a fairly small jail and prison combined and really well run, so it wasn't the big deal that others have encountered.
What I was wondering would it be beneficial to market attorneys for jail calls or just for general notary work

Not everyone will take a jail call because of bad impressions. Market criminal attorneys for all notary work and indicate that you will do jail calls.
