help!!!
I just did my first signing and the borrower is a Junior, docs said john doe, id said john d. doe, JR. I know that more is better on the ID but what if its a Junior? TIA!

Still applies. Many men drop the Jr. Even thou their license still shows Jr. Think about it. Sr. weren't born as Sr. They just add it. Their licenses didn't always say senior.

The problem would have been if the docs read Joe Doe, Jr., but the ID was Joe Doe.

The ID is DIFFERENT! Cannot USE
The ID is not MORE, it is DIFFERENT. If the docs don't say Jr and the ID does, how do you know if the son (or jr) is not ripping off his father? RULE: The ID Can be more, not less and NOT DIFFERENT> The Surname is DIFFERENT. Get Credible Witnesses or ask for alternate ID

Re: The ID is DIFFERENT! Cannot USE
Supposing he signs a name affidavit showing Junior, is that acceptable?

Re: The ID is DIFFERENT! Cannot USE
So, along those same lines, if the docs say "John Q. Public" and the signer's ID says "John Quincy Public", you wouldn't accept it because it is DIFFERENT? (The signer just may be John Quinton Public!) The surname is the same (surname = last name in this case). It's the suffix that isn't shown on the docs.
Suffixes to names, like Jr., Sr., II, III, etc. are part and parcel to the name just like the surname, given name and middle name. The rule of thumb as I learned it is if the name as shown on the docs 'is contained within' the name on the identification, then the identity of the individual has been reasonably established.

Re: The ID is DIFFERENT! Can USE
Paul is correct. Many men quit using the suffix even thou it is on their license. As for ripping off the father. The father has a different SS number as any other person with that same name. The license is to identify him, if the names is within the names on a license you can use it.
It would be the same as a woman with the names Jane Mary Doe Smith. You can identity her as Jane Mary Smith, Jane Mary Doe, J. M. Doe, J. M. Smith, Mary Doe, Mary Smith, Mary D Smith, Jane D Smith, Jane M Doe, Jane M. Smith, there are many more etc.

In fact, in CT to get SR added to DL, one must present birth certificate of JR to prove that they're a SR! How 'bout them apples!
