signature
Has anyone made a mistake by having someone sign Dave instead of David (example). I didn't realize it till it was too late and it was like a four hour drive one way. I know I should of been more careful. I've been doing this for five years and this has never happened to me before, but I had such a migrane which I know isn't a good excuse but it happened and too late now. They signed the signature affidavits both ways . What do you think will happen because of that. ?? Im worried.

welllll....that is a rut-ro! Mistakes happen all the time, but this one's on you :(
They have to sign the docs exactly the way they are printed....hopefully they were e-docs and you can pull up the docs that were signed incorrectly and maybe meet them half way. If they were overnited, call the SS or TC immediately and get direction.

ok...if the docs were overnited to you, call the borrowers and have them bring their copies and sign before you, correctly. If they were e-docs copy and resign...in any case after you have a plan, call the SS and let them know...it won't be funded because the sigs are wrong. You can save it if you act quickly!

Rut-ro!
The key there is to get ahold of the SS or TC IMMEDIATELY. You don't want to compound the mistake by delaying funding. You have the opportunity to show that you can recover from a major league mistake. Ro rit um!

Re: Rut-ro!
Thank you all for the professional opinions. I just called the signing company and they were very nice about it. They said we will wait and see what happens as they have had that happen before and it worked out.

Have the borrowers re-sign using the borrowers' copy.
Then send out the corrected docs and let the company that hired you know that the correct docs are on their way on your dime.
If you are proactive and pay for the second shipping of the docs yourself, the company that hired you will appreciate your professionalism, and will not hesitate to use your services again.

Poor you - things like this do happen, as you now know, and it's such a sinking feeling! Your saving grace is hopefully going to be the Signature Aff - and this is exactly the reason that doc exists. It is used to cover signature variations - every lender has their own list of docs it CAN'T be used to cover, though. Not likely to ever work for the Note or any Note Riders, won't work for mtg/DOT or any recorded doc but generally/usually will cover the rest.
What doc was it that he signed with "Dave"? Crossing my fingers for you that it was some superfluous piece of what we call 'junk'??
