1st call ever for a $40.00 signing
I know this topic has been on the board each week re: SAs taking low ball assignments. I just can not understand it. I guess I want to take a moment to vent since this was the first call I ever received to do a closing for $40.00. Eventhough the borrowers already had the documents I can not see how anyone could see a benefit in performing a closing for this cost unless it is up the block (even then that is pushing it). I just had to mention this because of course when I gave the scheduler my standard fee for overnight docs; she stated "let me speak with my manager and I will call you back".
I am not sure about others but I have company clients who pay me more than $40.00 to come to their office or their client's home to have documents notarized. Why would a SA actually resort to performing a full signing for this cost is amazing.?! But I guess it is each person's priority to what assignments they take and for what fee.
Just venting...

It appears that someone out there is suggesting that you need to buy your business. With the intense competition on some areas if an SS keeps calling eventually they'll find someone who will do it for less, whatever less it. I'm just surprised that some SS hasn't figure out that they could actually have an auction and say, "Joe down the street will do it for $75, how much will you do it for?"
The notary on the phone says "$70
The SS says's "i have to have it approved and I'll call you right back."
SS picks up the phone and calls Mary "Hey, Mary I have a signing in your neighborhood and another notary in your area can do it for $70, if you can do it for less I'll give it to you.
Mary says "Sure, I can do it for $65"
SS says "Hey that sounds great but I have to get it approved
SS calls John down the street "Hey John I have a signing in your neighborhood and Mary can do it for $65, if you can do it for less I'll give it ..............."
And so on ans so on. Just wait it's only a matter of time!
Best regards, Charles

Not a matter of time but here now and automated. (Closeline Closer Network)
I get several email queries from them a week. I quote my fee and have never gotten a response so now I just delete them. I only stay listed to get a feel for what their volume is doing.

Yes, Charles - I hope it is only a matter of time. At least I have other business opportunities to keep my business going - I do this fulltime but advertise other fulltime services I can provide when I am not performing closings.
To Dave - I get e-mails from Closeline also, approx. 2-3 a week. I never have got a call back either. Autmotation assists their office with never having to pick up the phone but review their reply back sheet and call the lowest notary. Amazing. At least, most SS's are not like that and if you have a good relationship with a TC/Escrow Co., we all be fine.

I think closeline network does. Put out a blanket e-mail and wait for the cheapest response

Accept the closing
Then do not show. When they call you, tell them that for $40.00 you could not afford to call them back to cancel because you cannot cover your phone bill on $40.00!

Re: Accept the closing
It's good to vent and it's nice to have others to vent with but don't take it out on the borrowers. By not showing up you're affecting them.
