If I am positive that the borrowers did sign that document i.e. dot, etc then I will send a new acknowledgement. I don't go back to the borrower, I don't backdate, or anything else, why would I? They signed in the first place didn't they? BUT I do make sure to describe the document, i.e. deed of trust for 123 Main St, Anywhere, CA , loan number 12345 etc, so that the acknowledgement can't be used somewhere else. I can't see making things anymore difficult than they have to be.

Because on the certificate that you are signing, it says:
... On (this date) before me, John NorCal, personally appeared (the borrower) ...
The borrower is not appearing before you on the date you are signing again.
