Directions/Property inspections
Does anyone have a better way to find some of these locations? I do property inspections and have been having a really tuff time finding locations lately. I use mapquest, randmcnally, msn maps. Please let me know of some of the sites you use so I can try them out. Thanks for any help, Beverly

when all else fails, call the insured for directions to the property. Just like any confirmation, the insureds phone numbers should be listed. Of course if your doing a drive-by inspection out in the back woods when you are asked not to contact the insured, then call the local fire department for directions.

Beverly ... I don't remember exactly where you're located, but just about every county in Florida now has GIS mapping capability. Just go to the country property appraisers website, search for the address or owner and there should be a link to a map. I use it extensively in the 6 counties I cover, especially on new property and subdivisions that aren't on the maps yet. As for the most up-to-date maps online, I have found google maps to be the best. Yahoo follows google and then Mapquest after that.
You can go to http://www.myflorida.com/dor/property/appraisers.html to get a list of and links to the county property appraiser websites.

I personaly like Mapquest, it has not sent me in the wrong direction yet. I will agree that Google is pretty good. But I hate Yahoo.

Paul, I'm located in Escambia County. I have accessed the site you provided but it won't let me use it with out an account number. I will call thier office after 8 am and see if they can help me navigate thier site a little better. I went through the property appraisers site and it said no such location. I'm getting very frustrated with this process. I mean these things don't pay much and if you have to put so much time into locating the property your in the hole at the end. Thanks for all your help. b.

Beverly ... I had no problem doing a records search and bringing up the GIS map in your county. Give me a call and we can "walk" through it together. (BTW - you MUST use IE to view the map!)
